We're building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.</p> <p>General Summary</p> <p>Senior Corporate Counsel are licensed attorneys who provide research, advice and other legal assistance to Management and other lawyers in the Legal Department.</p> <p>Essential Job Accountabilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Specialize in either litigation or transactions within the Legal Department.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze and summarize legal documents including contracts and bid documents; make suggestions for alterations of those documents.</p> </li><li> <p>Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization and develop strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.</p> </li><li> <p>Research and analyze the law on complex issues and write a brief for submission to a supervising attorney or organization's management.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare, examine and negotiate contractual agreements including leases and licenses.</p> </li><li> <p>Draft standard form agreements for Legal Department.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with management, tax department, IT department and insurance regarding transactions.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead and direct the work of members of the Division Legal group.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide counsel to Granite operations personnel and management for large project transactions, including but not limited to client contracts, joint venture agreements, subcontracts, design agreements and other necessary documents.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>A juris doctorate (JD) and admission into applicable state bar is required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Work Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience in the areas of litigation, contracts, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions.</p> </li><li> <p>More than 10 years experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in implementing new products, services, and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of construction concepts, practices, and procedures is required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, skills, and abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated strong project management skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong research and analytical skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Attention to detail and accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent collaboration and diplomatic skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to break down problems into meaningful part and come to rational and well-though out conclusions.</p> </li><li> <p>Interest in process improvement.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to adapt quickly to quick changes in direction.</p> </li><li> <p>Internally motivated to see out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work well with all levels of staff as well as external customers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
