<p>Farmington School District</p> <p>Job Title: School Nurse</p> <p>Reports to: Principal</p> <p>Dept/Campus: Assigned Campus</p> <p>Length of Contract: 178 Days</p> <p>PRIMARY PURPOSE:</p> <p>Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program of health services for the school. Responsible for providing direct health services to students. Promote health education and preventive health practices for students. Serve as a health advocate for students.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program Special Knowledge/Skills: Valid registered nurse licensed to practice professional nursing in Arkansas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.</p> <p>Experience: Two years of nursing experience. The District may find appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the above qualifications.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:</p> <p>Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.</p> <p>Articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel.</p> <p>Demonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patrons.</p> <p>Participate in the development and implementation of a complete and functioning program to provide ongoing emergency health care.</p> <p>Develop and enforce procedures for the administration, safety, and security of medications, first aid or health supplies, and equipment.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Participate in the implementation of health education curriculum.</p> <p>Coordinate health service activities with the instructional program.</p> <p>Plan and implement health assessment and screening programs.</p> <p>Assist in the control of communicable diseases by interpreting the policies and procedures for control of communicable diseases within the school.</p> <p>Coordinate referrals to health care professionals for medical diagnostic services and treatment as needed.</p> <p>Implement and comply with policies established by federal and state law, Arkansas Dept. of Education, and local board policy in the area of health services.</p> <p>Consult with staff on student health problems and provide assistance with individual cases as needed.</p> <p>Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.</p> <p>Present for students a positive role model that supports the school climate and mission of the school district.</p> <p>Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.</p> <p>Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.</p> <p>Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.</p> <p>Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities.</p> <p>Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the health program and implement changes based on the findings.</p> <p>Provide relevant counseling and guidance to students and parents so they may assume responsibility for the maintenance of student health.</p> <p>Help families use community resources for health-related needs.</p> <p>Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments.</p> <p>Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.</p> <p>Articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of health care services to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.</p> <p>Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.</p> <p>Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.</p> <p>Maintain health provider CPR.</p> <p>Maintain nursing license as required by state law.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned by supervisor.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Supervise assigned health aides(s) and clerical employees(s).</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>Mental Demands:</p> <p>Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policies and procedures; maintain control under stress; ability to manage others in a non-coercive manner; maintain a clear focus on customer service</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>Frequent district-wide travel; biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.</p> <p>Last Revised: June 24, 2021</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Special Education Paraprofessional</p> <p>FLSA: Non-Exempt</p> <p>REPORTS TO: District LEA & Principal</p> <p>LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 178 days</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Associates degree, 60 college credit hours, or passing score on ParaPro Praxis exam or other acceptable measures.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Share and lead the vision to create an individualized education program for each student.</p> <p>Facilitate all targeted interventions and assisting in courses as required.</p> <p>Liaison between instructors and students.</p> <p>Provide individual or small group instruction.</p> <p>Assist in implementing behavior management activities.</p> <p>Perform clerical duties which may include: collection and recording of data, preparing classroom materials, and entering data into a computer program.</p> <p>Attend conferences or meetings, as deemed appropriate/necessary.</p> <p>Attend appropriate training sessions. If applicable, annually obtain a specified number of professional development hours.</p> <p>Accompany students to general education classroom, cafeteria, playground, restroom, and or other locations on the school campus.</p> <p>Participate in community based instruction activities.</p> <p>Conduct student programming assessments and/or screenings, per instrument administration guidelines/evaluator qualifications.</p> <p>Be familiar with technology and have the capacity to learn quickly. Demonstrate the willingness to learn procedures when working with students and have a solid understanding of classroom management.</p> <p>Participates in the implementation of the IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and/or district benchmarks.</p> <p>Completes the required module trainings required by ADE for paraprofessionals</p> <p>Participates in the implementation of student behavior plans for the purpose of ensuring effective and safe student learning.</p> <p>Provides instruction, under the supervision of the teacher, to the students in a variety of individual or group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students' success in school.</p> <p>Maintain emotional control under stress.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.</p> <p>COMMUNICATION SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports or correspondence.</p> <p>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to interpret bar graphs.</p> <p>CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS</p> <p>Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED</p> <p>Under general supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring all questionable cases to the supervisor.</p> <p>PLANNING</p> <p>Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.</p> <p>MENTAL DEMAND</p> <p>Operations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's administration and operation; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved.</p> <p>ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING</p> <p>Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision.</p> <p>USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENTS AND/OR COMPUTERS</p> <p>Regular use of complex machines and equipment. (computer, fax, laminator, copier, printer or iPad)</p> <p>PUBLIC CONTACT</p> <p>Frequent contacts with the general public, patrons, or other outside representatives, wherein the manner of handling these contacts has a bearing on the organization's position and operation.
