<p>NORTHRIDGE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT</p> <p>Northridge Middle School</p> <p>Day-shift Custodian</p> <p>Schedule: 260 Day</p> <p>Position Type: Full-Time</p> <p>Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Northridge Local School District is seeking a qualified and dependable Middle School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work and contributes to a positive school atmosphere.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform routine maintenance and custodial duties.</p> </li><li> <p>Remove snow, ice, and debris from walks, steps, and entryways as needed to assure safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Help load and unload trucks, receive, check, and store supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the building and specific assigned areas of the building at a high level of cleanliness and sanitation doing required tasks such as but not limited to</p> </li><li> <p>sweeping, mopping floors, waxing floor, general floor care, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, trash, and pencil sharpeners</p> </li><li> <p>refilling paper towel, soap, and toilet tissue dispensers, removing cobwebs, cleaning windows,</p> </li><li> <p>cleaning all chalkboards at least once per week, dusting, cleaning student desks, chairs and tables, and polishing furniture and woodwork as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the safety and security of the school building and grounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Keep buildings in a neat and presentable fashion, play areas neat and clean (inside and outside).</p> </li><li> <p>Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Report areas that may need special maintenance or cleaning to the head custodian or assistant head custodian.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in moving and arranging furniture, equipment, etc. to support school operations and functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Make minor repairs to building, furniture, and equipment, etc. and report the need for other repairs to the head custodian or assistant head custodian.</p> </li><li> <p>Replenish supplies in restrooms, custodial areas, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Cooperate with other staff in a team environment to maintain school in a safe, sanitary and orderly condition at all times.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist lunchroom personnel or breakfast program in the housekeeping duties of the kitchen and cafeteria including the removal of refuse and to include setting up tables, chairs, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete reports and forms as required to support district operating procedures and policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with the laws and procedures which govern the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and all waste.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent work experience) </li><li>Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred </li><li>Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures </li><li>Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with guidelines </li><li>Basic maintenance skills (e.g., light repairs, changing fixtures) are a plus </li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team </li><li>Good time management and reliability, including consistent attendance </li><li>Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods </li><li>Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or occasional weekends </li><li>Must pass background check and comply with school district policies </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Standard school-day schedule with occasional extended hours for meetings, conferences, and school events </li><li>Participation in school-related activities, professional development, and district initiatives </li></ul> <p>Application Process</p> <p>Interested candidates should submit the following:</p> <ul> <li>Complete the district's application process </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The Northridge Local School District offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the State Teachers Employment System (SERS) of Ohio, and paid sick and personal leave.
