<p>Description and Functions</p> <p>Open Until Filled</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Division of State Parks, Historic Sites, Trails, and Outdoor Recreation will hire two seasonal employees this summer to perform statewide non-motorized trail construction and maintenance. The typical season runs from May until September, but could begin earlier or extend into the fall depending on weather and location. Watch our recruitment video here:</p> <p>Human Resource Contact: 307-777-7010 / stacy.sprengeler@wyo.gov</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.</p> <ul> <li>Create a visible pathway (trail) for users to follow by modifying the natural surface terrain using tools to dig, scrape, chop, and remove branches, trees, rocks, etc. </li><li>Trail Maintenance may also include building and repairing stone walls that hold a trail tread. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Prior knowledge of trail construction techniques and familiarity with trail tools is preferred but not required.</p> <p>Must be dependable, self-motivated, flexible, and willing to cohabit with other trail builders on site.</p> <p>Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.</p> <p>Must be at least 16 years of age.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE:</p> <ul> <li>Basic construction and maintenance knowledge. </li><li>Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools. </li><li>Basic safety awareness of equipment use. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>None - See "Preferences"</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Positions are headquartered in Cheyenne, but the work can be performed anywhere in the state of Wyoming. </li><li>Must work outdoors in all weather conditions. </li><li>Must be able to hike and climb while carrying heavy tools and equipment and maintaining a vigorous pace. </li><li>Must be able to lift heavy rocks and swing trail tools all day. </li><li>Must be comfortable working in remote locations. </li></ul> <p>NOTES:</p> <ul> <li>FLSA: Non-Exempt </li><li>Seasonal positions require irregular hours of work, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. </li><li>Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and actively supports the ADA and reasonably accommodates qualified applicants with disabilities.
