<p>ASSISTANT DEAN OF STUDENTS</p> <p>Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, 7-12, Public Charter School located in South Hadley, MA</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>PVPA has an opportunity for a school administrator who is interested in working within a School Culture Team to support student needs.</p> <p>Tier One School Culture Efforts for Middle School</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the Dean of Students and the School Culture Team to implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and re- direction strategies </li><li>Support and enforce school behavioral expectations according to PVPA's code of Conduct </li><li>Work closely with the School Culture Team to develop a positive school culture of high expectations and respect </li><li>Provide classroom support for resets and huddles with students in response to teacher concerns/calls </li></ul> <p>Tier Two and Three Incident Management and Restorative Practices for Middle School</p> <ul> <li>Promote Student Engagement and Sense of Belonging throughout disciplinary processes including Collaborative Hearing Process and the Family Meeting Process </li><li>Facilitate Middle School Restorative Practices including circles, resets, and restorative projects </li><li>Monitor the enforcement of the student code of conduct behavior </li><li>Manage the PVPA Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan and its updates to assure compliance with state regulations including annual fall training for PVPA faculty and Staff. </li><li>Manage suspension and expulsion hearings in accordance with state law </li><li>Assist in the planning, developing, and implementation of student behavior plans for high-risk students. </li></ul> <p>Documentation and Investigation</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Dean of Students to compile all required discipline reports to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education </li><li>Mange reports of abuse and neglect with the Department of Children and Families with the Dean of Students </li><li>Manage investigations for reports of bullying and harassment with the Dean of Students </li></ul> <p>Staff Support</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the School Culture Team and the Wellness Team to create and maintain research-based behavioral interventions and train faculty and staff in those Interventions </li><li>Assist staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans </li><li>Serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues </li><li>Provide formal and informal feedback on observations and classroom management best practices </li></ul> <p>Family and Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Maintain regular communication with staff and families regarding student behavior </li><li>Build effective relationships with teachers, families, and the community to improve school culture </li><li>Encourage parental involvement in the pursuit of student achievement and a positive school culture </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree (preferred) </li><li>MA DESE Certification Principal/Assist. Principal (preferred) or Communication & Literacy MTEL within 1st year (required) </li><li>Three years of public school experience (required) five years (preferred) </li><li>Experience implementing restorative practices on a systemic level; experience engaging diverse learners through culturally responsive pedagogy; experience using data to inform decision-making; experience managing a small team of educators </li><li>Commitment to professional growth and collaboration; skilled at mediating interpersonal conflict; skilled in culturally proficient communication </li></ul> <p>Other Information/Instructions:</p> <p>Salary Range: $67,000 - $70,000 annually plus the potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year (dependent upon tuition revenue).
