<p>Special Education K-6 Teacher JobID: 1509</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Elementary School Teaching/Grades K-6</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/1/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Central Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>09/01/2026</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Teacher of Students with Disabilities & Elementary School Teacher, Grades K-6 or Teacher of the Handicapped Required</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities</p> <p>Instruction and Program Implementation</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement standards-based, differentiated lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). </li><li>Utilize evidence-based instructional practices (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) visual supports). </li><li>Provide direct instruction in academic, communication, social, and daily living skills. </li><li>Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs. </li><li>Implement assistive technology and augmentative/alternative communication (AAC) systems as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>IEP Development and Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and New Jersey Administrative Code (N.J.A.C. 6A:14). </li><li>Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives. </li><li>Prepare progress reports and maintain accurate educational records. </li><li>Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to eligibility and program planning decisions. </li></ul> <p>Behavioral Support</p> <ul> <li>Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and conduct functional behavior support strategies. </li><li>Use positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques. </li><li>Maintain a structured and predictable classroom environment to support student regulation and engagement. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration and Consultation</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with Child Study Team members, related service providers (e.g., speech, OT, PT), and general education staff. </li><li>Provide consultation to paraprofessionals and ensure appropriate implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies. </li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program updates. </li><li></li></ul> <p>Professional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintain current knowledge of best practices in autism education and special education. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities. </li><li>Adhere to district policies, procedures, and ethical standards. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <p>Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$52,700 - $112,200 pending on Education and prior experience.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p>
