We are an equal opportunity employer; no information obtained during the recruitment/selection process is intended for any discriminatory purposes.</p> <p>Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule</p> <p>Grade: 113</p> <p>Salary: $14.78 - $24.22 Hourly (Dependent on Qualifications)</p> <p>Department: Animal Control</p> <p>E-mail: MelissaM2@cctexas.com</p> <p>ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 6:30 pm or 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, and other shifts as assigned. Must be available to work holidays, weekends and be on a rotational on-call status after 8:00pm.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The principle function of a Control Officer is to protect the animals of Corpus Christi through education, enforcement, and prosecution through responding to calls for service and proactive patrols.</p> <ul> <li>Must respond to calls such as strays, injured animals, abuse, cruelty, bite investigations, and other investigations that involve domestic and wild animals. </li><li>Responsible for vector services which includes bee and mosquito surveillance and eradication. </li><li>Care for animals in custody by cleaning kennels, feeding animals, adoptions, fosters, rescues, and euthanasia. </li><li>Enforce city ordinance but also care for in custody animals and strive to find homes for as many animals as possible. </li><li>Provide rabies control by responding to animal bites to humans, completing reports, and ensuring the animal is quarantined in accordance with state law. </li><li>Protect the safety and health of citizens against vicious animal, rabies, West Nile, and other various illness and dangers that animals or vectors can pose. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Minimum of one (1) year of experience </li><li>Must be able to obtain a Basic Animal Control Officer certification within one (1) year of hire </li><li>Must become a Euthanasia Technician within one (1) year of hire </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees. Each employee automatically contributes 6% of their total compensation and will increase to 7% effective January 1, 2019. The City will match employee contributions 2 to 1 during retirement. </li><li>Medical/dental/vision/life coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. </li><li>Vacation - 88+ hours per year </li><li>Personal leave - 40 hours per year </li><li>Sick leave - 96 hours per year </li><li>Voluntary 457b deferred compensation plan </li><li>Seven (7) Holidays </li><li>Flexible Spending Account </li><li>City Employee Health & Wellness Clinic & City Employee Fitness Center </li><li>Learning & Development Academy </li><li>Tuition Reimbursement Programs </li><li>Employee Recognition Programs </li></ul> <p>Basis of Rating</p> <p>Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.</p> <p>Closing Statement</p> <p>Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.</p> <p>Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.</p> <p>In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.</p> <p>This position is classified as "Safety Sensitive".
