With this responsibility comes the need to provide a safe and secure environment to both our ridership and our employees. The Public Safety Department is a multifaceted department made up of Metro Transit Security Specialists (TSS), contracted security guards, regional district Metro task force officers, local police department partners, and deputies. The foundation of the Public Safety team is Public Safety Dispatch. As a member of the Public Safety Dispatch team, you will be responsible for fielding calls from the public, dispatching appropriate units, notifications to emergency services, computer entries, monitoring of CCTV cameras in our new Real Time Camera Center (RTCC), log entries and notes, answer customer service calls, responding to QUIQ (text) messages, as well as other duties associated with the department.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Monitor all Public Safety radio traffic to include direct contact with Law Enforcement via Transom Channel. </li><li>Answer telephone calls from Public Assist Telephones (PAT) and outside callers. </li><li>Dispatch appropriate units/equipment (TSS, Contract Security, Deputies, Police Partners, Fire, EMS, etc.…). </li><li>Entering all information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system including detailed descriptions, location, units assigned. </li><li>Answering Customer Service calls. </li><li>Monitor and Operate access gates at the Main Shop and Ewing facilities. </li><li>Assisting Bus Operations (BOC) with the implementation of the LYFT program which involves screening calls and coordinating with BOC. </li><li>Monitor/Answering text messages (QUIQ) from customers. </li><li>Use the Regional Justice Information System (REJIS) for identification of persons and vehicle license plates. </li><li>Assist Metro's Special Operations division and outside law enforcement agencies in the investigation, retrieval, and recording of incidents. Maintaining a legal chain of custody of same. </li><li>Familiarization of the departments Notice of Suspension (NOS) list to assist in the enforcement of compliance. </li><li>Monitoring CCTV cameras in the new Real Time Camera Center (RTCC). </li><li>Provide a proactive approach by monitoring CCTV and provide real-time information to TSS, Contract Security, and First Responders in emergencies. </li><li>Identifying malfunctions of CCTV cameras for repair or replacement. </li><li>Maintain a daily incident report in the RTCC of events observed and/or reported. </li><li>Assist Metrolink and Metro Bus by entering DRD/Hard Drive request for various incidents. </li><li>Assist Metrolink and Metro Bus during special incidents. </li><li>Maintain time sheets for secondary Law Enforcement and Contract Security. </li><li>Assist ADA customers when special circumstances arise. </li><li>Assist during any event that may arise from any Bi-State Development enterprise. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to gather appropriate and essential information quickly from callers. </li><li>Maintain proper radio etiquette and remain calm under stressful situations. </li><li>Ability to type at a reasonable speed with minimal errors. </li><li>Ability to communicate with callers in difficult, emergency, and potentially </li></ul> <p>life threatening situations.</p> <ul> <li>General knowledge of the surrounding area. </li><li>Maintaining and updating simple clerical records. </li><li>General knowledge of the operating rules, regulations, and procedures </li></ul> <p>of Metro.</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. </li><li>General knowledge of CAD system and functions. </li><li>Ability to maintain a professional relationship with co-workers and </li></ul> <p>work partnerships.</p> <ul> <li>Wearing and maintenance of department issued uniform. </li><li>Flexibility in work scheduling. </li><li>The ability to multi-task is essential. </li><li>Knowledge of Metro, Federal, State, and Local communications regulations. </li><li>Ability to use computer programs including Word, Excel, and email. </li><li>Ability to report for emergency duty 24/7. </li></ul> <p>General knowledge of Metrolink and Metro Bus operations.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Degree: High School or GED Equivalent</p> <p>Years: Three to Five (3-5) minimum required.</p> <p>Field:</p> <p>Field: Dispatching / Security Supervisory Experience Preferred</p> <p>Compensation Disclosure:</p> <p>We believe that all employees should be paid fairly. As of the time of this posting, this is the expected base salary range.
