Murray State is an equal education and employment opportunities, Vets/Disabled employer.</p> <p>Type of Employment Regular Full-Time If Part Time, Enter Hours Per Week Work Location Murray, KY Employment Term 12 Months Position Type Staff - Non-Exempt (Hourly) Department Veteran's Affairs Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The VA School Certifying Official (SCO) is responsible for veteran and dependent benefits processing and related customer service within the Veteran and Military Student Success office. This position will ensure timely and compliant processing, auditing and reporting of veteran and dependent benefits, as well as advising students concerning related academic and governmental regulations.</p> <ul> <li>Provide comprehensive information to veteran and dependent students concerning federal and state education benefits; provide guidance on procedural requirements and enrollment for veterans and their dependents, in accordance with VA rules and procedures. </li><li>Process and provide guidance for establishing and reporting Department of Defense active duty service members and military connected student benefits. </li><li>Certify students in Enrollment Manager, including begin-of-term processing, end-of-term processing, auditing, and reporting changes. </li><li>Assist with Racer Nation Orientation, Commencement programs, tabling, and/or other recruiting and retention functions to promote Veteran's Affairs, as well as advocate for the Veteran population. </li><li>Coordinates annual VA audit to ensure program compliance. </li><li>Serve as backup to the Coordinator of Veteran and Military Student Success. </li><li>Supervise student employees, creating student VA Work Study contracts and submit time cards to the VA. </li><li>Assist with other projects as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of one year of professional experience working in an office setting. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. </li><li>Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Must have the ability to exercise sound decision-making and a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and ensure timely completion of tasks in time sensitive situations. </li><li>Must be able to successfully perform duties in stressful and time sensitive situations. </li><li>Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Banner student information system. </li><li>One year of experience in a military setting or working with veterans. </li></ul> <p>Posting Date 05/30/2025 Closing Date 06/13/2025 Open Until Filled No Special Instructions to Applicants Hourly Rate/Annual Salary $16.41 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications) Staff Grade 105 Work Hours</p> <ul> <li>Normal working hours. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Normal for office environment </li></ul>
