<p>The ACCESS Team,"Advancing Consultation & Coaching to Empower Student Success," at EASTCONN brings together experts in behavior, instruction, and student support to strengthen the capacity of schools across the region. This position plays a vital role in this mission by supporting high-quality ABA services that improve student outcomes, foster independence, and create inclusive and supportive learning environments across the region.</p> <p>We are recruiting for a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within the ACCESS program to provide direct behavioral, instructional, and data-collection support to students under the ongoing supervision of a BCBA. The RBT implements skill-acquisition programs, behavior-intervention strategies and plans, and classwide supports consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and aligned with the Connecticut BCBAs in Schools: Guidelines and Professional Standards. As part of EASTCONN's mission to deliver high-quality programs with partner districts encompassing services that improve the lives of learners. The RBT helps ensure that students have equitable access to effective, evidence-based behavioral supports that promote independence, inclusion, and academic success.</p> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT:</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A working knowledge of all elements of the RBT Ethics Code and the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code; a working knowledge of the Connecticut's BCBAs in Schools guidelines; knowledge of student confidentiality and student rights in accordance with FERPA and district standards; knowledge of effective, evidence-based behavioral supports that promote independence, inclusion, and academic success; the ability to implement ABA strategies with fidelity and collect accurate data; knowledge of school settings, IEP processes, and special-education supports; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, mental-health staff, related-services providers, and administrators to support consistent implementation of recommended practices; strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills; and related capacities and abilities.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field strongly preferred; and</p> <p>Experience: Employment in a position supporting students with autism, developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges.</p> <p>Or: Combination of education and experience that is a substantial equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). </li><li>Completion of a BACB-approved 40-hour RBT training and competency assessment. </li><li>As required by the assigned program: Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully obtain and maintain certification in the relevant crisis management procedure implemented by the program to which they are assigned (e.g., Safety Care or CPI). </li><li>Ability to pass a criminal background check and any required CT state screenings. </li><li>Other specific program requirements. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Implementation settings may include classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and community settings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to gage in active, play-based sessions that require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and occasional running or crawling to match clients' energy levels and facilitate skill-building activities; occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, physically assist with daily living tasks (such as toileting or transfers for clients with mobility needs), and safely managing or redirecting challenging behaviors, including blocking or tolerating potential aggression.
