<p>Long Term Leave School Counselor JobID: 1388</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services/Guidance Counselor</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/2/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>High School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>09/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>07/16/2025</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Long Term Leave Replacement</p> <p>School Counselor</p> <p>September 1, 2025- January 30, 2026</p> <p>The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of</p> <p>LTR School Counselor.</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited 4-year college/university. </li><li>Possession of a standard and valid School Counselor certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education. </li><li>Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. </li></ul> <p>BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>The School Counselor performs school counseling services such as study and assessment of individual pupils with respect to their status, abilities, interest and needs; counseling with administrators, teachers, students, and parents regarding personal, social, educational, and vocational plans and programs; and develops cooperative relationships with community agencies in assisting children and families.</p> <ul> <li>Schedules new students in the school and orients them to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning. </li><li>Works with families (parents/guardians) to resolve academic and personal issues; confers with parents whenever necessary. </li><li>Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality. </li><li>Works to resolve students' educational disabilities, to discover and develop special abilities of students and to promote academic success. </li><li>In conjunction with the building principal, conducts parent orientations for incoming students (currently 6th grade, but eventually 5th grade.) </li><li>Adheres to and supports Secaucus Board of Education policy and all school guidelines. </li><li>Advocates on behalf of the student and/or his/her family.
