<p>Special Education Supervisor (Elementary) West Springfield Public Schools</p> <p>The Special Education Supervisor will work collaboratively with the Director of Special Education to develop and monitor special education services across the district, implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with DESE regulations, provide professional development for staff, and engage families.</p> <p>Reports to: The Director of Special Education</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a continuum of programs and services for students with disabilities ensuring Fair and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). </li><li>Supervise Team Chairs, Special Ed Clerks and all Special Ed Staff in substantially separate programs. </li><li>Coordinate all 504's. </li><li>Coordinate Safety Care training for staff. </li><li>Oversee Transitions Program. </li><li>Oversee Alternative School . </li><li>Oversee all special education procedures, timelines and documentation to ensure compliance with DESE. </li><li>Educate staff and administrators on special education eligibility, disabilities categories and regulations. </li><li>Review and sign all proposed IEPs ensuring compliance with DESE regulations. </li><li>Provide regular consultation for special education staff and building administrators on best practices for instruction and intervention and monitor student progress. </li><li>Collaborate with building based administrators on observations and evaluations of special education staff in the inclusion setting. </li><li>Complete regular file reviews to ensure records are complete, accurate and organized. </li><li>Oversee cases involving mediation and appeals process. </li><li>Support Teams Chairs in manifestation determination meetings as needed. </li><li>Monitor discipline of students with disabilities. </li><li>Provide PD for new staff on using Special Programs in PowerSchool. </li><li>Collaborate with the supervisor and building administrators on recruitment, hiring, training, and staff assignment. </li><li>Communicate regularly with families and stakeholders. </li><li>Run PLCs or special education department meetings. </li><li>Regularly observe students and programming across the district. </li><li>Attend building based staff meetings as needed. </li><li>Assist the Director of Special Education and the Executive Director of Compliance with TFM reviews and site visits. </li><li>Assist the Director of Special Education with oversight of related services. </li><li>Proactively address interruptions of services & compensatory services, ensuring documentation, tracking and appropriate notification. </li><li>Coordinate specialized transportation. </li><li>Collaborate with community partners to meet the needs of students with disabilities. </li><li>Responsible for the evaluation and supervision of assigned special education staff. </li><li>Assume any additional responsibilities and duties as deemed appropriate by the Director of Special Education. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience Special Education </li><li>Master's Degree in Education </li><li>Knowledge of Special Education Regulations </li><li>MA Certification in Special Education Administration </li></ul> <p>Individual Contract Salary: Commensurate with experience (Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00)</p>
