<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Danbury Public Schools is a diverse and growing district in western Connecticut, serving over 12,500 students across a wide range of schools and programs. We are looking for passionate educators who share this commitment to student success.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated ELL/Bilingual Spanish Teacher for Broadview Middle School. The ideal candidate will provide English language development instruction and bilingual support, helping students acquire English proficiency and succeed academically in all content areas. This teacher will create a nurturing, inclusive, and language-rich environment, work closely with families, and collaborate with staff to support multilingual learners' academic and linguistic growth.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver English language development instruction and bilingual content support to multilingual learners (MLs) </li><li>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at various levels of English proficiency </li><li>Collaborate with content area teachers to provide academic support and language development </li><li>Monitor student progress in English acquisition and overall academic achievement </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and program compliance </li><li>Communicate regularly with families, including in Spanish when appropriate </li><li>Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment </li><li>Participate in ongoing professional learning related to ELL, bilingual education, and culturally responsive teaching </li><li>Utilize appropriate assessments to guide instruction and document student growth </li><li>Support students in adjusting to a new school culture and academic expectations </li><li>Participate in school-based teams and collaborate with colleagues to support student success </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of second language acquisition and bilingual education practices </li><li>Ability to build strong relationships with multilingual students and families </li><li>Strong collaboration and communication skills with team members and administrators </li><li>Commitment to culturally responsive, student-centered pedagogy </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>Familiarity with English Language Proficiency assessments preferred </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Connecticut State Department of Education certification in one of the following:</p> </li><li> <p>ELL/English to Speakers of Other Languages (111)</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual Education (009)</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred)</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Spanish and English</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working in a multicultural, multilingual setting preferred</p> </li></ul> <p>SALARY:</p> <p>Salary is determined according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NEA Danbury and the Danbury Board of Education, available on the district website.</p>
