<p>Overview</p> <p>The Cell Manipulation Core Facility (CMCF) at Dana-Farber is hiring a Biomedical Equipment Technician. The Biomedical Equipment Technician II independently performs and trains others on a variety of tasks related to the oversight and maintenance of equipment for use in the labs within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility. In addition, takes more active role in planning what needs to be done ahead of work being assigned.</p> <p>This position is 100% on-site located at the Longwood Medical Area. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Creates monthly report to send to labs of maintenance and calibrations due in the upcoming month. </li><li>Performs preventative maintenance, testing and calibration on laboratory equipment. </li><li>Maintains legible, accurate and complete records of preventative maintenance and repairs. </li><li>Manages all assigned equipment. </li><li>Prepares and ships equipment for repair, if necessary. </li><li>Schedules service with outside vendors, if necessary. </li><li>Ensures all preventative maintenance whether performed internally or by contracted vendor is completed in a timely manner and in line with CMCF standard operating procedures. </li><li>Assists in installation qualification portion of validation projects as assigned. </li><li>Maintains an orderly and functional work environment. </li><li>Ensures test equipment is working properly and calibrated within established intervals. </li><li>Coordinates and conducts specialized environmental monitoring in the ISO 7 cleanroom. </li><li>Meets and assists vendors who need to come onsite to perform maintenance. </li><li>Documents all significant asset related actions in compliance with department practices. </li><li>Demonstrates and reflects a commitment to the mission and values of Dana-Farber. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned that are intrinsic to the successful operation of CMCF. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Equipment Technology or equivalent field required.</p> <p>Minimum Experience: 2 years of equipment maintenance experience with a minimum of 1 year in a laboratory setting required. Experience testing/servicing clinical laboratory equipment and working in a GMP environment preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:</p> <ul> <li>Able to work independently and as a team player. </li><li>Able to train staff. </li><li>Able to observe and comply with all safe work practices, wears protective clothing when required and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor. </li><li>Able to comply with hospital policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures. </li><li>Practices positive interpersonal skill with patients, visitors, and fellow employees. </li><li>Able to comply with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. </li><li>Demonstrated use of Quality Improvement in daily operations. </li><li>Able to prioritize daily tasks based on urgent lab needs and staffing. </li><li>Able to work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of CLIA, FACT, Joint Commission and OSHA standards and regulations. </li><li>Able to enter and retrieve data from computer databases and spreadsheets. </li><li>Working knowledge of computer applications pertaining to tracking service histories and producing reports on assets. </li><li>Willingness and ability to receive factory training, computer training, and other training provided by Dana-Farber or vendor. </li></ul> <p>At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where every patient, family, and staff member feels they belong.
