<p>General Summary</p> <p>Who We Are</p> <p>With three campuses along Colorado's Front Range, FRCC is the state's largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.</p> <p>Each year approximately 5,000 FRCC students transfer to four-year universities and FRCC offers more than 36 career training programs that prepare students for immediate employment and rewarding careers. Last year, more than 5,000 high school students took concurrent enrollment classes with us, earning college credit without having to pay college tuition. We're looking to hire people who share these values-along with our commitment to student success, equity and excellence.</p> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>As the Assistant Director for Academic Advising, you supervise a team of Academic Advisors, serve as a liaison to assigned Career and Academic Communities, and provide proactive, student-centered academic advising to a limited caseload of students to promote their success, retention, and completion. As a member of the advising leadership team, you support advising staff, contribute to the development of departmental programming, and play a key role in fostering a positive and equitable environment for both students and staff-ensuring students receive the guidance and support needed to complete their academic programs.</p> <p>This position will have the opportunity to work remotely occasionally but will require a strong on campus presence to provide leadership and support across all three Front Range Community College campuses. Occasional nights and weekends will be required to support college, division, and department efforts.</p> <p>Please note: You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment. Also, Front Range Community College is an E-Verify employer.</p> <p>SALARY:$62,456-$65,579 annually</p> <p>The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum starting salary for the position. In your application, please include a resume and cover letter that specifically addresses how your background and experience align with the requirements, qualifications and responsibilities of the Assistant Director for Academic Advising.</p> <p>Primary Duties</p> <p>Leadership & Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Lead and support a team of academic advisors across multiple campuses, fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment. </li><li>Oversee staff development through coaching, performance evaluations, and strategic goal setting. </li><li>Coordinate with advising leadership on training, planning, and departmental initiatives; serve as acting lead when needed. </li><li>Liaise with academic departments to ensure alignment, address student concerns, and develop success strategies. </li></ul> <p>Proactive Advising & Outreach</p> <ul> <li>Advise a limited caseload of students, guiding academic planning, course selection, and registration. </li><li>Use proactive outreach and analytics tools to monitor progress, identify at-risk students, and provide tailored support. </li><li>Promote equity-minded advising by affirming diverse student identities and connecting them to campus resources. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Continuous Improvement</p> <ul> <li>Partner with faculty and student services to support shared outcomes and stay current on curriculum and policy changes. </li><li>Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance advising practices. </li><li>Contribute to departmental improvement through assessment, feedback, and participation in college-wide initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Required Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Mission, Vision & Values: Embraces the mission, vision and values of FRCC. Works with the next level supervisor to brainstorm changes that can be implemented to improve a program or service that the department provides. </li><li>Cultural Self-Awareness: Willing to examine own beliefs and acknowledge own biases and how they have impacted or may impact the ability to serve students. </li><li>Cultural Competence: Recognize the need to become knowledgeable about the ways to communicate and support students of other backgrounds. Change approach to reflect the new learning. </li><li>Equity Mindedness: Learn to view department operations through an equity lens. Be willing to call attention to processes that lead to inequity in serving students. Understand the College's equity goals and how your role supports FRCC's ability to achieve those goals. </li><li>Operational Planning: Have an understanding and knowledge of the college's various strategic plans and understand how your work supports each of them. Understand the department's expectations to find proactive ways to support the goals of the department. </li><li>Team Building: Participate in team-building exercises and strive to build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues both within the department and in other departments within the college. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education/Training & Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field. </li><li>2 years' experience in academic advising, student success, or a related field. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in training, facilitation, and professional development. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education/Training & Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish. </li></ul> <p>Welcoming.
