<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Did you totally ace your Intro Stats class? Do you love explaining how to solve a differential equation? Then we need you! The MCLA Math Drop-In Center is hiring tutors for the Fall semester.</p> <p>The Math Drop-In Center is an open, appointment free space where MCLA students can stop by any time to get help on math related questions and problems. We service students in a wide range of subject areas, from Psychology to Physics, Math to Business. The Math Drop-in Center seeks students to serve as peer tutors. They will hold regular weekly hours at the Math Drop-in Center, where they will serve as peer tutors, create resources for students, and keep data on students served at the center.</p> <p>Never tutored before? No problem! All tutors receive tutor training at the beginning of the semester. All you need to bring is your math knowledge and a passion for helping your fellow students.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Attending periodic training meetings during the semester. </li><li>Help students who come in on a drop-in basis. </li><li>Professionally and independently conducting tutoring sessions as scheduled. </li><li>Collect and report data of students served at the center. </li><li>Meet regularly with supervising faculty to talk about the progress at the center and any challenges that arise. </li><li>Becoming familiar with texts and other resources useful for tutoring. </li><li>Create resources together with professors based on student needs and faculty input. </li></ul> <p>OPPORTUNITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Leadership development. </li><li>Enhancement of command of subject material and communication abilities. </li><li>Development of appreciation for varying learning and teaching styles. </li><li>Cultivation of new relationships with students and instructors. </li><li>Development of additional options for recommendations and references. </li><li>Enhancement of resume. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Have at least a 3.0 GPA overall or a 3.3 in their most recent semester </li><li>Have an appropriate background in mathematics </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.</p> <p>Review of applications will begin immediately.</p> <p>Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees with disabilities.
