<p>Classification</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Minimum Pay</p> <p>$95,241.00</p> <p>Compensation will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Director of Campus Development is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and expansion of the physical campus infrastructure. This role involves managing capital projects, strategic campus planning initiatives, and ensuring the overall growth aligns with the university's long-term goals. The Director will collaborate closely with academic, administrative, and operational departments, as well as external contractors and architects, to ensure successful execution of campus development projects.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Campus Planning and Development:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the long-term campus planning efforts, including master planning, space utilization, and development strategies. </li><li>Coordinate and oversee major construction, renovation, and redevelopment projects to improve the campus infrastructure. </li><li>Ensure that campus development projects are aligned with the institution's vision, academic goals, sustainability objectives, and budget constraints. </li></ul> <p>Project Management:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee all phases of campus construction projects, from planning and design to implementation and completion. </li><li>Manage project schedules, budgets, and contracts while maintaining high-quality standards. </li><li>Monitor project progress and resolve any issues that may arise to ensure timely completion. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students to assess needs and prioritize development projects. </li><li>Serve as a primary point of contact for external contractors, architects, and consultants. </li><li>Provide regular updates and reports to key stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees and campus community. </li></ul> <p>Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship:</p> <ul> <li>Promote sustainable design practices and incorporate energy-efficient technologies into development plans. </li><li>Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, building codes, and institutional sustainability standards. </li></ul> <p>Financial Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and manage budgets for capital projects, ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints. </li><li>Seek and manage funding sources for development projects, including grants, donations, and government support. </li><li>Work with the finance department to secure necessary approvals and maintain fiscal accountability for campus development projects. </li></ul> <p>Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure all campus development projects meet local, state, and federal regulations. </li><li>Oversee safety standards during construction and ensure risk management protocols are in place. </li></ul> <p>Innovation and Technology Integration:</p> <ul> <li>Stay informed about trends in campus development, technology, and facilities management. </li><li>Identify opportunities for integrating cutting-edge technologies, smart campus initiatives, and advanced building systems. </li></ul> <p>Leadership and Team Management:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and mentor the campus development team, including project managers, planners, and other staff. </li><li>Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education:</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 10 years of experience in campus development, facilities management, or construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven experience in successfully managing large-scale construction and renovation projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> </li><li> <p>Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>In-depth knowledge of campus planning, design, and construction processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and staying within budget.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of sustainability practices, building codes, and regulations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>The Director of Campus Development will primarily work in an office setting but will also spend significant time visiting construction sites and meeting with external partners. </li><li>Occasional travel may be required for site assessments or to attend relevant conferences. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of facilities management and construction procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of contractor bid procedures. </li><li>Detailed knowledge of construction code(s) and diverse knowledge of construction means and methods. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of construction print reading and specifications. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes. </li><li>Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite applications. </li><li>Proficient skill in planning, organizing, and problem solving to manage and prioritize multiple large-scale projects. </li><li>Excellent collaborative and communication skills, both verbal and written. </li><li>Maintenance of composure during stressful demands. </li><li>Effective interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Proficiency in spreadsheet applications and project scheduling. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred. </li><li>Minimum eight (8) years industry experience. </li><li>Minimum three (3) years' experience in managing construction projects, preferably in a public or academic setting. </li><li>Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered. </li><li>LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) experience preferred. </li><li>Considerable knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and building fire safety, and accessibility codes. </li><li>Valid driver's license and insurability to drive college vehicles is required. </li><li>Must pass a background check. </li></ul> <p>The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
