<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Midlands Technical College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Cake Decorating Instructor to teach in our Cake Decorating Certificate Program. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students by sharing your expertise, creativity, and passion for the craft. The instructor will deliver hands-on instruction, guide students through fundamental and advanced decorating techniques, and prepare them for both personal and professional opportunities in the field.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>As a Cake Decorating Instructor, you will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide engaging, hands-on instruction for all courses within the Cake Decorating Certificate Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate proper techniques in cake design, including icing, piping, fondant work, tiered cake construction, and specialty decorations.</p> </li><li> <p>Create an interactive and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity and skill development.</p> </li><li> <p>Clearly explain and demonstrate each skill to ensure students understand both the process and best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to support diverse learning styles.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and submit all required course paperwork, including class rosters, attendance records, and end-of-class evaluations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that classroom facilities, tools, and equipment are used safely and maintained properly.</p> </li><li> <p>Share insights about potential career paths, entrepreneurial opportunities, and industry trends in cake decorating and related culinary fields.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage professionalism, attention to detail, and a passion for quality work among students.</p> </li></ul> <p>This position is located on the Harbison Campus in the Corporate and Continuing Education department.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Must have at least three years of experience in a bakery setting, i.e., grocery store, local bakery, or other professional setting. Must demonstrate knowledge of a variety of decorating techniques and actual experience providing items to customers.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Teaching experience in this subject or other similar subjects.</p>
