<p>Type:Full TimeSalary/Pay Rate:$55,000-$60,000/yearPosted Date:07/03/2025</p> <p>Veteran Services</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position works independently with veteran/dependent contacts to assess the scope and direction for establishing the proper claims for the purpose of representing claimants before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in matters pertaining to claims of veterans, widows, and orphans. Will perform case management duties throughout the process of assessment and determine the best course of action for each veteran/dependent. This position counsels and assists clients in the utilization of appropriate resources, identification of deficiencies, and the development of strategies to initiate actions necessary to obtain the proper benefits in which clients are entitled. As Outreach Coordinator, will act as primary point of contact with public and private sector groups involved with assisting veterans in obtaining earned benefits. This individual will coordinate participation in these events as directed by the Director, Veteran Services.</p> <p>This position is an accredited representative as prescribed by the Code of Federal Regulations 14.629 (a)(1)(i)(ii), for the purpose of representing claimants before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in matters pertaining to claims of veterans, widows, and orphans.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Counsels and advises clients to determine the best course of action, while educating the claimant of the VA laws and utilizing judgment and different strategies as necessary. </li><li>Prepares financial statements and interprets the correlation of social security and other net worth affecting VA pension claims. </li><li>Investigates etiology and relationship of medical conditions and medical terminology and human anatomy. </li><li>Works in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs and other governmental agencies. </li><li>Communicates with various federal, state, and county government agencies concerning issues and inquiries on behalf of veterans and/or their beneficiaries. </li><li>Reviews VA files, evaluates evidence, military and medical records to initiate the appeal process. </li><li>Educates the public regarding available VA benefits. </li></ul> <p>Essential Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree </li><li>VA accreditation by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the General Counsel </li><li>Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, rules, and statues. </li><li>Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate both verbally and in writing. </li><li>A minimum of two years' experience in a veteran services position. </li><li>A background in mental health and understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Experience with veterans with PTSD </li><li>Military experience </li></ul>
