<p>Position Title ESL Instructor, Intensive English Center (Temporary) Division Student Affairs Department International Affairs Number of hours per week 30 Days to be worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Months per year Other If modified, list months May - June Job Type Part-Time Campus Avon Williams If other location, please indicate Position Number 108440 Advertised Salary $25 - $33 Pay Basis Semi-Monthly Job Description</p> <p>Plan, deliver, and assess English as a second language courses according to IEC's established curriculum and respective course syllabi.</p> <ul> <li>Adopt and implement a language teaching approach consistent with IEC's Teaching Philosophy. </li><li>Evaluate, grade, and submit student performance on time, track and report student course attendance. </li><li>Prepare course materials to complement instruction. </li><li>Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate the achievement of student learning outcomes established in the respective course syllabus. </li><li>Provide initial and ongoing academic advising to students assigned. </li><li>Develop and implement community relationships, adequate service learning, and engagement initiatives for students. </li><li>Hold student feedback sessions at the end of each term to provide expert input on student progress. </li><li>Seek, employ, and continuously reflect on early intervention strategies to prevent poor performance among students. </li><li>Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings, including but not limited to Faculty Meetings and IEC Annual Retreat, by providing feedback on curriculum, assessment, placement, progress, and promotion, or other program-related matters. </li><li>Participate in extracurricular student activities where appropriate. </li><li>Organize a cover schedule for the absent days in collaboration with other instructors and inform the administration accordingly. </li><li>Undertake professional development consistent with roles and responsibilities at the IEC. </li><li>Build and maintain amicable relationships with members of the TSU community. Observe general conduct rules stipulated in the IEC Faculty Handbook. Comply with IEC and Tennessee State University rules, regulations, and guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree with TESOL/TEFL/TESL/ELT/ Applied Linguistics or closely related field emphasis PLUS a teaching certificate (CELTA/TESOL or equivalent with supervised teaching practicum). </li><li>Two years of experience teaching ESL. Higher Education level preferred. </li><li>Organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with diverse populations </li><li>Experience with ESL curriculum development and assessment. </li><li>Strong commitment to professional development. </li><li>Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team </li><li>Proficiency in instructional technology, use of the Internet, ZOOM for online instruction, and Microsoft Word and Excel. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.</p> <p>Official transcripts for positions which require a post-secondary undergraduate degree, advanced degree and/or certification must be presented upon hire.</p> <p>An unofficial transcript may be attached in the "Transcript" section.</p> <p>You will be required to provide names and contact information for three references during your application to the posting.
