<p>The Chemistry Department is seeking a part-time instructor to teach CHE 106: General Chemistry Lecture I for the Fall 2025 semester. This course covers the fundamental principles and laws underlying chemical action, states of matter, atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, properties of solutions, chemical equilibria, and introductory thermochemistry.</p> <p>The lecture meets in-person each Monday & Wednesday 5:15-6:35pm. The instructor will be supported by being provided syllabus templates and assistance related to exam preparation and assignments. Office staff aid with class logistics and student organization. The department is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education and seeks candidates that will actively contribute to this mission.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D., or working towards a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of general chemistry. </li><li>Previous experience teaching chemistry. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. </li><li>Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments. </li><li>Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. </li><li>Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. </li><li>Meeting all designated class periods. </li><li>Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. </li><li>Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. </li><li>Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. </li><li>Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and a list of three references.</p>
