<p>Show/Hide</p> <p>Leave Replacement Speech Language Specialist</p> <p>Available: November 2025 to April 2026</p> <p>Location: Adamsville School</p> <p>Salary: $61,406 to $112,986 (Per the collective bargaining agreement- CBA)</p> <p>Benefits (per CBA):</p> <ol> <li> <p>Excellent Health and Prescription Benefits Package</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent Dental Benefits Package</p> </li><li> <p>NJ State Pension Plan</p> </li><li> <p>Paid Time Off (Sick, Personal, Vacation, etc.)</p> </li></ol> <p>The candidate should have experience conducting speech assessments and providing individual, group, and integrated therapy to preschool students in a preschool disabilities program.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>New Jersey certification as a Speech-Language Specialist. </li><li>Such additional qualifications as the Board of Education may deem appropriate. </li></ul> <p>REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY:</p> <p>The Speech-Language Specialist is directly responsible to the building principal(s) and the Supervisor of Special Services.</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>The Speech-Language Specialist conducts assessments and prepares and implements therapy programs for children with speech or language disorders. In carrying out this function, the Speech-Language Specialist works cooperatively with such personnel as teachers, principals, district supervisors and members of the Department of Special Services.</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Ten-month contract consistent with the agreement negotiated with the applicable bargaining unit.</p> <p>PERSONAL EVALUATION:</p> <p>The Speech-Language Specialist shall be evaluated in writing in line with state requirements and Board of Education policy and regulation by any of the following or combination of the following: Building Administrator(s), Supervisor(s), the Director of Curriculum, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, the Assistant Superintendent for Special Services, and/or the Superintendent, at least twice a year if tenured and at least three times a year if non-tenured. The evaluation shall be based in part on the performance of the responsibilities indicated in this position description.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Specific Responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Surveys, tests, diagnoses and classifieds speech and/or language disordered children.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and implements the individual therapy programs defined by the IEPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Recommends for acquisition and/or creates and constructs clinical teaching materials to meet the needs of the individual child.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides group and/or individual therapy sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides the building staff with individual or group in-service sessions on language development and diagnostic procedures as they apply to speech therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps records as to progress, attendance, conferences, and overall status of each referred child.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains liaison with other school personnel (principals, teachers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, LDTCs, supplementary teachers, school physicians and nurses.)</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as a consultant to the child study team.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains contact with those outside services (physicians, orthodontists, agencies and clinics) concerned with the welfare of the children receiving language, speech and hearing therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Holds parent/guardian conferences.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists building administrators in organizing and scheduling the speech and hearing programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts, as requested, teacher-training workshops in speech and hearing.</p> </li><li> <p>General Professional Responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates proficiency in the use of English by communicating with reasonable clarity, conciseness and precision in both speaking and writing.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in solving classroom and school problems and seeks resolution through appropriate channels.</p> </li><li> <p>Cooperates in the total school program by:</p> </li><li> <p>Sharing responsibility for care of materials, equipment and facilities;</p> </li><li> <p>Sharing responsibility for students' behavior throughout the building;</p> </li><li> <p>Working with colleagues to improve the effectiveness of the total school program;</p> </li><li> <p>Participating in school activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Cooperates in curriculum development and evaluation activities by participating in the planning and implementation of programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and follows an individual program of professional renewal in such areas as:</p> </li><li> <p>How children learn;</p> </li><li> <p>Current approaches to discipline;</p> </li><li> <p>Alternative instructional strategies;</p> </li><li> <p>Updated curriculum materials;</p> </li><li> <p>Current theory and practice in his/her field.</p> </li><li> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities</p> </li></ul> <p>Performs other duties and responsibilities incidental to the office or as assigned by the building principal(s) and/or Supervisor of Special Services.</p> <p>Interested applicants should apply on line at www.brrsd.org</p> <p>AA/EOE</p>
