<p>Western Michigan University Homer Stryker, MD, School of Medicine is hiring an On-Call Occupational Health and Infection Control Nurse. Performs a variety of professional duties are completed to aid in the development and delivery of occupational health, infection control and worker's compensation to WMed.</p> <p>To share this posting, please use this link</p> <p>FULL-TIME BENEFITS PACKAGE:</p> <ul> <li>Wellness reimbursement. </li><li>Continuing education and tuition reimbursement. </li><li>Employer-funded retirement plan. </li><li>Two medical plan options: PPO and High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with employer HSA contribution. </li><li>Flexible work solutions based on position and department. </li><li>Up to four weeks of PTO accrual beginning in year one. </li><li>Paid holidays. </li><li>Paid volunteer time. </li><li>Paid preferred holiday. </li><li>No nights, no weekends. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Develops, maintains and audits employee/student health records to ensure completeness, continuity of care and employee/student confidentiality. </li><li>Utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record for registration, orders, notes and billing. </li><li>Utilizes Immuware Occupational Health software. </li><li>Conducts daily office appointments. </li><li>Administers employee/student immunizations and maintains related recordkeeping including all MICR documentation and records releases. </li><li>Processes worker's compensation claims and provides case management in coordination with the worker's compensation carrier. </li><li>Phone triage of employees or students for removal and return to work. </li><li>Provides individual counseling sessions to employees/students regarding exposures, immunizations and other occupational health items as necessary. </li><li>Responsible for conducting orientation for new employees, students, contractors and volunteers. </li><li>Conducts annual flu clinics, mask fit testing and TB testing for all departments. </li><li>Responsible for review and assessment of all visiting learner immunization records prior to attending WMed. </li><li>Responsible for annual training, and respirator medical forms, for all powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) users. </li><li>Responsible for maintenance and operation of AED's on all three floors of the Linda Richards building and on the concourse level of the clinic building. </li><li>Provides recommendations to management regarding compliance with government regulations, The Joint Commission standards, OSHA, Higher Learning Commission, organization policies, standard operation procedures and applicable Codes of Ethics. </li><li>Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects. </li><li>Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Associates degree in Nursing (RN) </li><li>2 years' experience as an RN. </li></ul> <p>LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Michigan. </li><li>TB certification per Kalamazoo County Health Department preferred or must receive within six months of hire. </li><li>BLS certification. </li></ul> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR). </li><li>Proficient in using Microsoft office. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to operate automated standard office equipment (multi-line phone system, copier/fax, and shredder). </li><li>The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>High degree of integrity to maintain absolute confidentiality in all matters related to occupational health. </li><li>Knowledge and ability to use e-mail messaging, appointment scheduling and the calendar. </li><li>Participates in continuing education to maintain competence of occupational health and safety, including legal regulations. </li><li>Ability to accept and apply feedback. </li><li>Regular and predictable attendance is expected. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow. </li><li>Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision. </li></ul>
