Assess the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and families during hospitalization or in outpatient settings. Develop a plan for facilitation of therapeutic interventions to reduce the stress and anxiety associated with health care encounters. Will assist the Child Life and Education Department in designing activities that promote the social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth. Will utilize health care play, developmentally appropriate activities, volunteer workers and educational materials to assist children and families in adjusting to the hospital environment. The fellow will pursue internal (in-services, grand rounds, etc) and external (appropriate community agencies, Child Life Conference, etc.) professional development and training opportunities. Child Life Fellow will be under the guidance of a CCLS for the clinical and educational components of the fellowship.
