<p>Description</p> <p>Title: Graduate Research Assistant (Hawaii Family Engagement Center)</p> <p>Position Number: 0000GA11</p> <p>Hiring Unit: College of Education, Center on Disability Studies</p> <p>Location: Manoa</p> <p>Date Posted: July 18, 2025</p> <p>Closing Date: Continuous - review of applications begins around July 25, 2025</p> <p>Monthly Type: 11 Month</p> <p>Full Time/Part Time: Part Time, 50% FTE</p> <p>Temporary/Permanent: Temporary</p> <p>Other Conditions: Extramural funds. To begin approximately mid-August 2025 or soon thereafter. Renewal of appointment is contingent upon availability of funds, program/operational needs and satisfactory performance.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist project implementation under the direction of the Hawaii Family Engagement Center (HFEC) Principal Investigator, Project Coordinator, and Project Staff. </li><li>Assist in coordinating, developing, and providing statewide training programs that build the capacity of the state education agency, school-level staff and personnel, families, and community-based organizations to engage in effective partnerships that support student achievement and school improvement. </li><li>Develops, writes, and distributes the project's quarterly newsletter, including gathering content, coordinating with team members and stakeholders, editing for clarity and accuracy, and ensuring timely dissemination to relevant audiences. </li><li>Assist with developing content, coordinating, and maintaining project social media accounts and website presence. </li><li>Support planning and event coordination of in-person and/or virtual conferences, stakeholder meetings, and training (including light lifting). </li><li>Support the development and facilitation of online family engagement in education training content for educators and families. </li><li>Assist with the collection, analysis, and evaluation of project data. </li><li>Research and summarize information from documents and academic literature on family engagement for conducting research, generating training and technical assistance products, and grant writing. </li><li>Document project activities for the purposes of tracking project progress and federal project reporting. </li><li>Manage project contacts to aid project information dissemination. </li><li>Participate in professional development activities. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a degree-seeking graduate student (Masters or PhD) admitted to or registered in a graduate program at UH Manoa. </li><li>Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and maintain full-time enrollment. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with others. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to edit written products such as articles, newsletters, web posts, training manuals, tool kits, and lesson plans. </li><li>Experience in writing research reports using qualitative/quantitative data. </li><li>Proficiency in the following applications: Zoom, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. </li><li>Organizational skills that include attention to detail and ability to self-initiate/motivate. </li><li>Ability to work with minimum supervision in an occasionally fast-paced office or field environment as part of a team. </li><li>Availability to work outside of the normal working hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as needed in support of community outreach and project programming. </li><li>Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawai`i Driver's license (Class 3), comparable driver's license, or other means of transportation which meets position needs. </li><li>Ability to perform light physical work including moving or lifting of items such as, but not limited to, boxes, files, and papers. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Degree and/or academic background in education, social work, sociology, or psychology. </li><li>Experience, interest in, or sensitivity working with vulnerable student or family populations. </li><li>Demonstrated experience in teaching, training, or leading workshops and web seminars; or providing support to schools, educators, parents, and community organizations on family engagement in education policies and practices. </li></ul> <p>To Apply: Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach required documents to the online application.
