<p>Salary: $24.60 hrly. / $51,168 annually</p> <p>Job Overview</p> <p>Maintains the day-to-day operations of the Healthy Living Centers. This includes conducting exercise classes both in person and online; providing orientation to participants on the use of exercise equipment; coordinating wellness education classes as well as other monthly special events.</p> <p>Ideal Candidate</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an associate's degree in Wellness, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or other related field and at least 2 years of experience working in a wellness or fitness center environment. They must be able to communicate well and have the ability to motivate people to make healthy choices and lifestyle changes. Experience working one on one with clients to assess wellness needs and develop workout plans and knowledge of proper nutrition is a plus. The applicant should be capable of developing curriculum for classes on healthy lifestyles and eating and exercise habits as well as exercise classes and other health related fields.</p> <p>This position will work at both the South Shore Community Resource Center and Wimauma Suncoast Community Health Clinic (Healthy Living Fitness Center-Wimauma) as their primary location(s) with two other offices based at the Lee Davis Community Resource Center and Plant City Community Resource Centers. They will be required to cover all sites on a regular basis for class instruction, vacations, training purposes, etc. The program conducts monthly open houses where you will be required to work one Saturday with overtime pay provided. It is extremely beneficial that this individual speak Spanish, however it is not mandatory.</p> <p>Core Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Customer Commitment - Proactively seeks to understand the needs of the customers and provide the highest standards of service. </li><li>Dedication to Professionalism and Integrity - Demonstrates and promotes fair, honest, professional, and ethical behaviors that establishes trust throughout the organization and with the public we serve. </li><li>Organizational Excellence - Takes ownership for excellence through one's personal effectiveness and dedication to the continuous improvement of our operations. </li><li>Success through Teamwork - Collaborates and builds partnerships through trust and the open exchange of diverse ideas and perspectives to achieve organizational goals. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree; and </li><li>Two (2) years of experience in the health and wellness field; or </li><li>An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted; and </li><li>Possession of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Group Exercise Instructor (GEI) Certification or ability to obtain it within the first year of employment; and </li><li>Current CPR/Basic Life Support, AED, and First Aid Certifications; and </li><li>Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.</p> <ul> <li>Monitors Healthy Living Program participants to ensure they use fitness equipment and perform exercise safely and correctly. </li><li>Facilitates member orientation upon initial participant enrollment. This includes explaining emergency protocols and any other information necessary to ensure complete understanding of rules and operations for members safety and enjoyment. </li><li>Ensures that facility signage, equipment layout, and design are properly maintained; cleaning and disinfecting schedules are adhered to; environmental controls are monitored/maintained; ADA guidelines are followed, etc. </li><li>Performs daily cleaning and wipe down of strength and cardiovascular equipment. Ensures that all maintenance tasks are completed on a weekly and monthly basis (extra cleaning). Confirms quarterly maintenance is completed by FitRev when scheduled. </li><li>Provides wellness assessments consisting of the following to determine participant success and attainment of goals: Biometric measurements (BP, RHR, Body Comp) and health behavior screening. Uses this information to educate member and refers to other health disciplines, as necessary. </li><li>Develops an exercise/workout program for each Healthy Living participant. Re-evaluates members on a periodic basis (6-12 weeks) to measure success. </li><li>Interacts with community partners to develop and implement classes on exercise, nutrition, and other health related topics, and recruits participants for those classes from Healthy Living Program participants. This involves, but is not limited to, researching, and developing contacts and coordinating monthly health education classes for Healthy Living Centers; developing health education curriculum and instructing health education classes at the Healthy Living Centers; and conducting communication outreach events with the Health Care Services Outreach team. </li><li>Pulls all provider referrals from ACES and contacts plan members to set-up appropriate consultations. </li><li>Develops and conducts quarterly member activity incentive challenges. This includes creating the incentive challenge, developing all related programming and materials, and including additional targeted biometric and health behavior screenings. </li><li>Instructs group fitness classes to include, but not limited to, basic step, toning, yoga, boot camp, Pilates, etc. </li><li>Inputs participant information into database to track progress toward goals set during the pre- and post-assessments. Uses database to create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on program utilization and participant progress. </li><li>Coordinates quarterly open house/health fairs at the Healthy Living Fitness Centers (one at each facility monthly). This includes researching and contacting local community partners for vendor participation; community outreach to promote the events; planning and coordination of activities for the day of the events; and attending all monthly open house events. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Specifications</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of agency procedures and documentation. </li><li>Working knowledge of office policies, procedures, and practices. </li><li>Working knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. </li><li>Ability to evaluate member's information to determine course of action. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to use a computer to enter data quickly and accurately. </li><li>Ability to effectively establish and maintain active working relationships within and outside of the organization. </li><li>Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust accordingly. </li><li>Ability to obtain 15 hours of continuing education credits annually. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Regularly required to talk and hear. </li><li>Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, balance, and kneel. </li><li>Uses hands to handle and feel; reaches with hands and arms. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. </li></ul> <p>Work Category</p> <ul> <li>Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. </li></ul> <p>Emergency Management Responsibilities</p> <p>In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration.
