<p>Job Description:</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The Benefits Support and Workers Compensation Specialist provides administrative and operational support to the Benefits Coordinator in managing employee benefit programs and workers' compensation claims. This position plays a key role in assisting with the administration of health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, retirement programs, and employee wellness initiatives. A significant focus of this role involves handling workers' compensation reporting, documentation, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Provide day-to-day administrative support for all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, and wellness initiatives. </li><li>Serve as a key contact for workers' compensation, assisting with claim intake, incident reporting, employee communication, and coordination with third-party administrators (TPAs), healthcare providers, and internal departments. </li><li>Monitor and track workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely documentation, compliance, and case progression, including return-to-work coordination and light duty assignments when applicable. </li><li>Maintain accurate records and files related to employee benefits and workers' compensation, both electronic and paper. </li><li>Assist in preparing and distributing materials for open enrollment, including employee communications, scheduling, and benefit fair logistics. </li><li>Support the implementation and tracking of wellness programs aimed at promoting employee well-being and reducing workplace injuries. </li><li>Communicate with benefit vendors to troubleshoot and resolve employee issues related to eligibility, claims, and coverage. </li><li>Generate and compile reports and data as needed to support HR, benefits, and safety initiatives. </li><li>Assist with benefit-related aspects of the collective bargaining process, including gathering data and preparing documentation. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Talent Officer and/or the Benefits Coordinator. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>2-3 years of relevant administrative or HR-related experience. </li><li>Knowledge of workers' compensation processes and employee benefit programs. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage deadlines. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. </li><li>Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills. </li><li>Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. </li><li>Proven customer service skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Typing proficiency and strong grammar/proofreading skills. </li><li>Flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed. </li><li>Experience with HR or payroll systems (Tyler/Infinite Visions preferred). </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree in Human Resources or related field. </li><li>Experience in workers' compensation and/or employee benefits administration. </li><li>Familiarity with employment laws related to benefits. </li><li>Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint. </li><li>Experience with HRIS systems (Tyler School ERP/Infinite Visions, Frontline, Absence Management). </li><li>Willingness to learn and grow technical skills in HR/benefits software systems. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Works at the direction of the Coordinator of Benefits, with reporting to the Chief Talent Officer</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>This is a Grade 4 Administrative Assistant -- Full Year 52 week position.</p> <p>Wage rate of $27.28/hour or $49,649 per year under current UPSEU Union Agreement which will be re-negotiated for the 2025-26 school year.
