<p>The PSI Technician is responsible for performing Document Imaging tasks. Paper medical records and loose documents are digitalized through the Document Imaging process. Records are prepped, scanned and indexed to the patients Electronic Medical Record. The PSI Technician is also responsible for indexing all documents to the appropriate patient folder and for ensuring each document is assigned the appropriate document name. Duties include answering phones, general clerical functions and other duties as assigned by management. Maintain a 98% accuracy rate for all tasks.</p> <ul> <li>Rounds to pick up documents within the organization. </li><li>Prepares and batches documents for scanning. </li><li>Scans batches with Document Imaging software. </li><li>Performs the indexing process accurately. </li><li>Each document is indexed to the correct patient/encounter. </li><li>Each document is assigned the correct document name and verifies that bar-coded documents are correctly indexed. </li><li>Identifies when it is appropriate to split and merge documents and does so correctly. </li><li>Correctly inserts and appends pages/documents when and where appropriate. </li><li>Reviews scanned documents for accuracy, legibility, and appropriate identification, identifying all documents of poor quality. </li><li>Marks for rescanning those identified. </li><li>Ensure all scanned documents are positioned correctly. </li><li>Writes each indexed batch to the appropriate queue according to workflow procedure. </li><li>Reviews assigned work queues daily and ensure timely processing of all assignments in the queues. </li><li>Responsible for re-scanning illegible documents and documents that have not been correctly positioned for viewing. </li><li>Assists with other projects and reports as needed. </li><li>Cleans scanners, communicates scanner maintenance issues, patient ID issues to supervisor as needed. </li><li>Box charts for shipment to offsite storage if necessary. </li><li>Must be detail oriented. </li><li>High School Graduate </li><li>Previous experience in acute care facility in an HIM department or similar medical office setting preferred. General Clerical experience required. </li><li>Must display the ability to retrieve, communicate, and/or present information in written, auditory, or visual fashion. </li><li>Microsoft Office products a plus. </li><li>Writing, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required. </li></ul>
