<p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Supports CLIA-Moderately Complex Testing Laboratories in the Des Moines Metro area (Ankeny, Clive, Pleasant Hill, Indianola). Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy and laboratory tests such as CBC, urinalysis, and Flu/COVID testing, among others.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supports CLIA-Moderately Complex Testing Laboratory at MercyOne Clinic Laboratories </li><li>Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy and laboratory tests such as CBC, urinalysis, and Flu/COVID/Strep testing, among others </li><li>Hours vary between 7a- 6p (M-F) and 8a-1p (S-Sun) </li><li>Accurately identifies patients prior to phlebotomy collection of specimens using two patient identifiers as established by laboratory policy </li><li>May perform patient registration as it relates to requested laboratory testing </li><li>Independently performs analysis of biological specimens as trained and per laboratory operating procedures </li><li>Monitors the collection, transportation, storage, identification and processing of laboratory specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testing </li><li>Responsible for operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation </li><li>Recognizes deviation from expected results, analyzes and corrects problems according to laboratory policies </li><li>Performs quality control per established frequency, monitors results and takes appropriate action to maintain test accuracy and precision </li><li>Assists with new instrument or procedure implementation and training </li><li>Assists and supports quality management systems and performance improvement initiatives </li><li>Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and records </li><li>Follows safe work practices by observing safety and infection control policies and procedures and informing management of any hazards that may exist </li><li>Maintains supply inventories </li><li>Participates in training new employees </li><li>Operates laboratory information systems, personal computers, and instrument-related computer software </li><li>Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers </li></ul> <p>Our Commitment</p> <p>Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
