<p>Job Title: Design Manager</p> <p>Role Purpose</p> <p>The Design Manager is a key member of the Design Management team.</p> <p>You will assist the Head of Design Management and the relevant Business Unit General Manager to ensure:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Design compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Quality standards</p> </li><li> <p>Successful delivery of a portfolio of design projects</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Promoting Omexom within the industry to support business development and employee engagement</p> </li><li> <p>Setting a high standard for stakeholder management across the project team</p> </li><li> <p>Ensuring the design teams uphold stakeholder management best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrating commercial and financial awareness to manage project scope changes efficiently</p> </li><li> <p>Encouraging engineering innovation and value engineering with a focus on sustainability</p> </li></ul> <p>Other key tasks:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Supporting the technical design team in developing and reviewing Processes and Procedures, ensuring adherence during scheme development</p> </li><li> <p>Assessing the impact of one project's design on concurrent projects, and supporting resource allocation</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding NEC and other relevant contract types</p> </li><li> <p>Managing the design programme, design scope deliverables, and reporting progress or delays accurately</p> </li><li> <p>Acting as custodian of design change, managing change registers, EWNs, nCEs, and PMIs per contractual provisions</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborating with commercial managers, quantity surveyors, project managers, and internal designers to manage project communications</p> </li><li> <p>Managing and registering Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs)</p> </li><li> <p>Liaising with the Principal Designer regarding communications for permanent and temporary works</p> </li><li> <p>Promoting a proactive team culture and sharing lessons learned and best practices</p> </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities & Duties</p> <p>Including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead and manage the overall design programme, ensuring timely and accurate reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Produce design programmes with input from design teams and OEMs, meeting client deliverables</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate tender estimates and technical responses</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure timely, on-budget delivery of project design scopes in line with customer requirements, quality, safety, and CDM 2015 regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Promote 'smarter working' practices</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage a culture of safety, health, and environmental awareness</p> </li><li> <p>Drive innovation and collaboration within the design team</p> </li><li> <p>Manage technical and scope changes across projects</p> </li><li> <p>Compile monthly project reports</p> </li><li> <p>Seek opportunities to deliver safer, faster, and more profitable outcomes</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain key project documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with Omexom's governance and customer requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Review method statements/risk assessments to ensure design compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure Energy Transmission projects comply with client specifications and supplier requirements</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Subcontractors, and Suppliers</p> </li><li> <p>Client Representatives</p> </li></ul> <p>Person Specification</p> <p>Qualifications & Experience</p> <p>Essential:</p> <ul> <li> <p>8+ years in a related role</p> </li><li> <p>Relevant qualifications (Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to deliver design projects</p> </li><li> <p>High attention to detail</p> </li><li> <p>Strong belief in team development</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in design delivery and design management</p> </li><li> <p>Proven track record of safe, timely, and high-quality program delivery</p> </li><li> <p>Experience interfacing with internal and external stakeholders</p> </li><li> <p>Solid technical foundation and engineering experience</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing projects ranging from standard to complex</p> </li><li> <p>Proven leadership in managing multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams</p> </li><li> <p>Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline</p> </li></ul> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience in energy transmission and distribution projects</p> </li><li> <p>Background in UK Energy or highly regulated industries</p> </li><li> <p>Membership in a relevant professional institution</p> </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <p>Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong knowledge of SSEN and National Grid design management/approvals processes</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent management and organisational skills</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of information management (incl.
