<p>Assistant Coordinator of Payroll</p> <p>JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 12/11/2025 CLOSING DATE: 01/07/2026 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 051687 LOCATION: Admin Finance Office - 727 POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coordinator of Payroll</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Ensure accurate preparation of payrolls, federal tax information, and Teacher Retirement System (TRS) data. Assist with the management of salary calculations for new hires, stipends, and position changes.</p> <p>DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Salary calculations related to new hires, position changes, stipends, and pay-offs. </li><li>Posting and balancing attendance, extra duty pay, and hourly payroll. </li><li>Run and review reports prior to payroll processing. </li><li>Create and manage complex spreadsheets for balancing payroll. </li><li>Assist with the maintenance of the district's timekeeping system. </li><li>Interface and balance hourly payroll the timekeeping system and into the finance software. </li><li>Communicate effectively with employees and departments to resolve payroll-related issues in a timely and accurate manner. </li><li>Work cooperatively with the Human Resources Department to accurately calculate salary changes, leave balances, TRS deductions, and other employee payroll data as required. </li><li>Maintain and update procedure manuals. </li><li>Review and interpret new policies affecting record retention and maintain records accordingly. </li><li>Assist with testing related to software upgrades or implementations. </li><li>Maintain files/records. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of payroll experience </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or relevant years of work-related experience </li></ul> <p>Special Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to assess and make decisions related to calculating, posting, and balancing payroll data </li><li>Knowledge of TRS-related laws and regulations </li><li>Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Analytical and problem-solving skills </li><li>Ability to exercise judgment in decision making </li><li>Ability to work efficiently and independently </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, willingness to learn other computer software systems </li><li>Knowledge in the day-to-day operation of a computerized payroll system, including data interpretation and reconciliation </li></ul> <p>CONTACT INFORMATION:</p> <p>Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain emotional control under stress </li><li>Occasional district travel </li><li>Occasional prolonged and irregular hours </li></ul> <p>APPLY TO:</p> <p>To apply for this position, click "login" above.
