Reasonable accommodation for the specific disability will be made for the incumbent/applicant only to the extent medically and reasonably feasible.</p> <p>An Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the plumbing system within the Pulaski County Detention Facility.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Receives work requests listing repairs and installations needed; determines required materials and supplies. </li><li>Installs and repairs new and existing plumbing systems including valves, drains, basins, toilets, fixtures, and sinks. </li><li>Cuts and threads pipes and uses a variety of standard plumbing tools and equipment. </li><li>Reviews plumbing system plans and specifications to ensure the efficiency of system maintenance and availability of parts. </li><li>Maintains the inventory of needed plumbing supplies; requisitions as necessary. </li><li>Performs preventative maintenance and testing on plumbing systems, equipment and fixtures as needed; completes requisitions to order parts as needed. </li><li>Documents equipment inspections and repairs as required by supervisor. </li><li>Repairs and maintains boiler system by replacing leaks in pipes and replacing and/or repairing controls; monitors fluid levels in boilers. </li></ul> <p>SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: None</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a smoking-restricted office environment within a detention facility.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Considerable knowledge of the standard tools, methods, materials, and practices of the plumbing trade. </li><li>Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the plumbing practices. </li><li>Considerable knowledge of all applicable codes, laws, and regulations governing plumbing practices. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blueprint specifications and written work instructions. </li><li>Ability to determine work materials and supplies needed for job completion. </li><li>Ability to maintain detailed records concerning work completion. </li><li>Ability to remain on call 24 hours. </li><li>Ability to attend work regularly and reliably. </li><li>Skill in the use and care of standard plumbing tools and equipment. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Ability to hear and speak sufficiently to communicate information in person and by telephone. </li><li>Visual acuity is needed for building inspection, equipment operation, tool usage, and plan specifications. </li><li>Digital dexterity is necessary for pipe installation and repair, equipment operation, and tool usage. </li><li>Ability to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. </li><li>Ability to climb ladders. </li><li>Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. </li><li>Ability to concentrate for long periods of time. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Completion of vocational-technical school training in the plumbing trade; considerable experience in the plumbing area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.</p> <ul> <li>Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and motor vehicle report. </li><li>In addition to the pre-employment checks, all employees who operate county vehicles are required to undergo an annual motor vehicle report. </li><li>This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. </li><li>Must possess or be able to immediately obtain a valid Arkansas driver's license. </li><li>Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. </li><li>Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arkansas Boiler's License. </li><li>Must at least possess a valid Arkansas Restricted Governmental Maintenance Plumber License. </li></ul>
