<p>JOB SUMMARY Sizer School seeks a part time custodian to join our Facilities Team. The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the building and grounds. The Custodian is a valued member of the staff and is responsible for assisting school administration in providing a healthy and safe environment for the education program at the school. Sizer School offers a small community with a positive working environment where each staff member is valued and respected.</p> <p>SIZER SCHOOL Sizer is a free, public charter school located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts serving students in grades 7-12. Built in 2013, the state-of-the-art building located at 500 Rindge Road rests on 5 acres of land and consists of 60,000 square feet.</p> <p>Position Type: Part Time (12 months/20 hours per week) Work hours: 4 hours per day Monday-Friday (flexible start time starting at 4:00 PM or later) Salary $21-$22 Per Hour</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Clean all areas of the building according to the daily, weekly, monthly and annual schedule provided by the Director of Facilities or Designee. Remove trash and recyclables throughout the building every day. Remove student items left behind after the school day and place them in the lost and found containers. Clean, sanitize, and fully stock restrooms with paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap. Verify that all plumbing and electrical fixtures are in good working order. Provide notification of cleaning supplies/materials needed to the Director of Facilities or his designee. Verify that all building entrances, parking lots and exits have been cleared of any and all snow and ice during the winter months. Secure the building and turn off lights as necessary at the close of the day. Perform grounds maintenance as assigned by the Director of Facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of a backpack blower, line trimmer, shovels, zero-turn mowers, walk behind mowers and snow blowers. Duties also include the safe and competent operation of tractor-driven snow blower and spreader. Perform light plumbing, painting, carpentry, and maintenance tasks of building equipment and machinery. Maintain multiple flooring surfaces by operating carpet cleaner, auto scrubber and be able to strip and wax floors. Flex work schedule at times in order to perform major tasks or projects, cover school events, and snow removal. Set-up for special events and assemblies. Check email daily throughout each shift by using the Facilities Help Desk. Be punctual and maintain a neat appearance; maintain a positive attitude and a willingness and ability to collaborate with staff. Adhere to the policies of the school at all times. Keep workspaces neat and orderly at all times. Maintain professional boundaries at all times with staff and students. All other custodial and maintenance duties or needs as assigned by the Director of Facilities.</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>____</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS Be physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb ladders and reach. Must be able to lift 70 lbs. on an ongoing basis. Must have the ability to operate floor cleaning equipment. Prior experience with stripping and waxing floors. Must have the ability to operate grounds keeping equipment. (zero turn mower, weed whacker, leaf blower, snowblower and tractor with front snowblower and spreader) Must be able to read and understand equipment owner's manuals. Must be able to perform preventive maintenance using appropriate tools. Have knowledge and experience in proper use of power tools. Must be able to speak and read the English language. Knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Must have attention to detail. Prior custodial experience preferred. Must have good communication skills. OSHA 10 or obtain within 90 days of employment. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid US Driver's License without any operating limits. Flexibility to change schedules for major projects, school events, and snow removal as needed. Must live within a 45-minute commute to the school. Must have a high-level of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.</p> <p>Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a Massachusetts CORI check, a national criminal background check, and a pre-employment physical examination.</p>
