<p>Overview</p> <p>AJANTA CONSULTING , LLC</p> <p>Wright Patterson AFB, OH</p> <p>THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON BID AWARD</p> <p>The Epidemiologist shall provide subject matter expertise to USAFSAM Department of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FE), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES) in support of operational medicine and human performance initiatives, including aerospace and operational clinical psychology consultation, program evaluation, and data analytics to optimize performance, support injury recovery, and assess readiness, health outcomes, and program effectiveness.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assist in designing, formulating, conducting, and leading data analysis of health surveillance data/health records, military personnel, records, military operational records, and other relevant military records at the individual, unit, and total force populations to provide human performance and operational surveillance support and shall use judgement and originality in developing innovative approaches to define and resolve highly complex situations. </li><li>Assist with operational records, and other relevant military records at the individual, unit, and total force populations to provide program evaluation for a wide variety of programs related to human performance, readiness, operational performance, administrative performance or other performance as requested. </li><li>Assist in the management of the retrieval and integration of health information data, personnel records, deployment-related records, health surveillance registries, and other military-related data into useable formats for end-users. </li><li>Draft reports, prepare, and/or present reports, documents, and/or presentations pertaining to the status of the research and data analysis as requested, and meet FES projected suspense dates. </li><li>Present results of studies or investigations through briefings, technical reports, and publication into scientific journals. </li><li>Apply knowledge of science/technology to analyze and resolve multifaceted issues/problems with minimal guidance and collaborate with technical area stakeholders to develop strategies for effective execution within a particular technology area. </li><li>Perform statistical analysis of existing data sets and creation of datasets for statistical analysis in SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide. </li><li>Assist in the development of credible, theoretically driven statistical models exploring the relationship between variables identified in data sets and outcomes of interest to the Air Force. </li><li>Perform, under guidance, validation and verification protocols, to ensure that the products of study are performing as expected, and assist in performing corrections, in the event of models failing to perform to standard. </li><li>Assist in the drafting of written communication for internal and external purposes. </li><li>Participate as an expert in health statistics in interdisciplinary planning and analysis. </li><li>Acquire data access permissions necessary to perform stated tasks. </li><li>Demonstrate or acquire familiarity with Air Force medical, personnel, and operational records systems and standards. </li><li>Demonstrate or acquire familiarity with all relevant data </li><li>repositories used as part of work, or which are generated in pursuit of work. </li><li>Collect data from various databases, pursuant to agreements with database owners. </li><li>Establish the relationship of available data to existing data sets, map the data between data elements and code for these specific data elements, establish data storage architecture requirements, and create a comprehensive data dictionary. </li><li>Provide conference support assistance by active participation in professional conferences, preparation of posters and presentations, and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts, in order to support distribution of study products. </li><li>Brief study findings at appropriate meetings or forums, as determined by the Government. </li><li>Interface with USAFSAM/FES leadership and staff. </li><li>Document products for the actual computer code used, in order for government personnel to access these files for review, approval, or for generating copies as required. All requirements shall be prepared in accordance with USAFSAM programming standards and standard commercial practices inclusive of any/all procedures implanted as part of this task. </li><li>Assist in briefings and production of documents as appropriate to transfer knowledge of study products to customers in USAFSAM and Air Force at large. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics or other similar degree as approved by USAFSAM/FES OR </li><li>Master of Science (MS) degree in in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics or other similar degree as approved by USAFSAM/FES OR </li><li>Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics or other similar degree as approved by USAFSAM/FES preferred. </li><li>Minimum five (5) years of experience with statistics in public health. </li><li>Board certification in Public Health preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Possess advanced analytical skills, including expertise in visual analytics for population health and health data surveillance, to identify trends, monitor outcomes, and support decision-making. </li><li>Ability to design, formulate, conduct, and lead data analyses of operational studies using health surveillance data, medical records, and other relevant military data to reduce risks of negative health outcomes within the USAF total force population. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, and Adobe Acrobat, applying these tools to conduct statistical analysis, develop visualizations, and produce high-quality deliverables. </li><li>Capacity to quickly learn and apply emerging analytical technologies such as Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, and Qualtrics to meet evolving analytical and reporting requirements. </li><li>Current in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training, with the ability to lawfully access, process, and safeguard identified medical data in compliance with federal regulations. </li><li>Experience within a health analytics related field and working with USAF related data Preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands: (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
