<ul> <li> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS</p> </li><li> <p>Education</p> </li><li> <p>Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with courses in physical sciences preferred. Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience</p> </li><li> <p>One month on-the-job training is provided under supervision of an experienced technician. Computer, written and verbal communication, telephone, and customer service skills required. Must complete cardiac arrhythmia within one year.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical</p> </li><li> <p>This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information.</p> </li><li> <p>Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing in normal and soft range. . Operates EKG machine, computer, copier and fax. Frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping. Lifting, Carrying up to 40 lbs., occasional pushing/pulling up to 300 lbs. Requires direct patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> </li><li> <p>Technician is responsible for conducting and recording ECG test results with minimal supervision. Most of the time spent performing the same work as others in department. Respond to emergency situations throughout workday. Makes judgments concerning cardiac dysrhythmias in emergency situations. Technician is also responsible for efficient and orderly registration of patients, ensures that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures. Responsible for patient demographics utilized in the preparation of records and reports used in making operating decisions. Works with and has access to confidential patient information. Position requires making frequent decisions or actions following general procedures often without clearly defined precedents. Position requires a high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details. Position requires diplomacy and a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, medical staff and SBMC personnel, registrar is responsible for a positive first impression of SBMC personnel as the initial point of service contact for SBMC customers.</p> </li></ul>
