<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Samuel Staples Elementary is seeking a passionate and dedicated General Music/Band Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. The ideal candidate will foster a love for music among students, develop their musical skills, and create an engaging learning environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to nurturing creativity and encouraging students to express themselves through music.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for students in grades K-5, focusing on general music education and band instruction. </li><li>Teach music theory, instrumental techniques, vocal techniques, and music appreciation to students of varying skill levels. </li><li>Plan and lead engaging music lessons that incorporate a variety of musical genres and cultural traditions. </li><li>Organize and conduct school performances, concerts, and other music-related events to showcase student talent. </li><li>Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them improve their musical abilities. </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into the broader educational experience. </li><li>Maintain an organized and welcoming classroom environment that encourages creativity and exploration. </li><li>Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and music program updates. </li><li>Stay current with music education trends, teaching methods, and curriculum developments. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of music education. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. </li><li>Valid teaching certification in music education. </li><li>Proven experience teaching music in a classroom setting, preferably at the elementary level. </li><li>Proficiency in playing multiple musical instruments and/or vocal instruction. </li><li>Strong understanding of music theory, history, and pedagogy. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a love for the arts in students. </li><li>Willingness to participate in school events and activities outside of regular school hours. </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>The Easton Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
