<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Greenwich Public Schools seeks an English language arts teacher for Western Middle School.</p> <p>The teacher should be well-trained in the implementation of the CT Core Standards with rigor, purpose, and planning to meet individual student learning needs. Effective use of technology to support instruction and personalized student learning is required.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom </li><li>Demonstrated strong content knowledge </li><li>Maintains accurate and complete records </li><li>Assesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed </li><li>Communicates student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences </li><li>Designs instruction to meet the needs of all learners </li><li>Designs and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices </li><li>Maintains a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner </li><li>Establishes and maintains professional relationships </li><li>Participates in professional learning </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with adolescent children </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing </li><li>Effective, active listening skills </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills </li><li>A sense of humor </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile:</p> <ul> <li>CT State Certification, or certifiability, in English, Grades 7-12 (#015) or English, Middle School, Grades 4-8 (#215) required </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
