<p>Job Description:</p> <p>We invite prospective applicants to apply for the position of SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (Grades 3-6) at the Southern Lehigh School District.</p> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct instruction with a strong emphasis on literacy and mathematics teaching and learning coupled with a deep understanding of differentiated instructional strategies and positive behavior support practices. </li><li>Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) by collaborating with the IEP team to create a plan that addresses a given student's academic, social-emotional, and behavioral goals. </li><li>Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to address challenging behaviors and create a safe and supportive learning environment. </li><li>Regularly assess student progress in achieving their IEP and/or BIP goals to inform instructional or intervention approaches as needed. </li><li>Maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment in which students with emotional or behavioral needs are able to thrive socially and academically. </li><li>Collaborate with a team of professionals, including general education teachers, counselors, psychologists, social workers, and parents to provide regular updates on student progress and ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting the student. </li></ul> <p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Certification: A valid (active) Pennsylvania Instructional I/ II certification in SPECIAL EDUCATION PK-8 or PK-12 is required.</p> <p>Experience: Previous experience with teaching and supporting students with autism and/or late primary (Grades 4-6) students with special education needs preferred.</p> <p>Note: Selected candidates must be able to produce valid [1] PA State Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), [2] FBI Criminal History Record Investigation (ACT 114), [3] PA DHS Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151). and [4] PA Arrest/Conviction Report Certification Form (ACT 24) all within one year of issue at the time of hire.</p> <p>COMPENSATION</p> <p>FLSA EXEMPT: in accordance with the SLSD-SLEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>DIRECTIONS</p> <p>Please complete an online application and attach supporting documentation (Cover Letter and Resume).
