<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Scheduling Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations and strategic goals of the Women's Oncology program, with an emphasis on surgical scheduling, provider coordination, and administrative efficiency.</p> <p>A key component of this role includes initiating and tracking prior authorizations, verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and ensuring services are scheduled in compliance with payer-specific guidelines and authorization requirements. The Scheduling Coordinator also collaborates with the billing team to assist with denial resolution when necessary, helping to support accurate and timely reimbursement.</p> <p>This position ensures the seamless scheduling of surgical consultations, operative procedures, pre-operative appointments, and related imaging or lab services. It serves as a key liaison between providers, hospital departments, surgical offices, and ancillary services, maintaining smooth communication and accurate documentation across all points of the patient care continuum.</p> <p>In addition to scheduling responsibilities, this role provides high-level administrative support to physicians, advanced practice providers, and department leadership. Duties include managing provider calendars, coordinating meetings and clinical sessions, preparing materials for patient visits, assisting with performance improvement initiatives, and supporting compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.</p> <p>This individual must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to navigate multiple electronic systems and collaborate across departments. The Coordinator contributes meaningfully to patient access, revenue cycle efficiency, and a positive care experience.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education: High school diploma required; college-level degree preferred.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting in a scheduling, registrar, or administrative support role required. </li><li>1+ years of experience in surgical scheduling or Women's Health/Oncology preferred. </li><li>Working knowledge of insurance verification, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology strongly preferred. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive required. </li><li>Experience using electronic scheduling and EMR systems (e.g., STAR, Cerner, etc.) preferred; required within 30-60 days of hire. </li></ul> <p>License/Certification: Not required.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS</p> <p>Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>This position may involve exposure to hospital environment risks such as infectious diseases or hazardous substances. The role requires a combination of sitting, walking, standing, and occasional lifting throughout the day.
