By empowering our internal teams with the tools and support they need to succeed, we strengthen organizational efficiency, ensure compliance, and advance our mission of enhancing member financial well-being.</p> <p>The AVP, Risk Management is responsible for leading and supporting the credit union's enterprise risk management framework, guiding the identification, assessment, and management of risks in alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. This role manages and supports governance, internal controls, and compliance programs by driving effective risk management practices across the organization. The position leads and implements key risk initiatives, including business continuity and regulatory oversight, while guiding business units through emerging risks and changes in the operating environment. The AVP, Risk Management also creates and delivers risk insights for committees and senior leadership, drives continuous improvement and innovation, and supports a culture of accountability, integrity, and alignment with the credit union's mission and values.</p> <p>This role requires a collaborative leader with solid business acumen, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to drive and deliver meaningful results through effective planning, prioritization and effective execution. The position plays a key role in supporting organizational growth by advancing key initiatives, driving performance management, exemplifying our core values and implementing strategic initiatives that contribute to organizational goals.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Under the general direction of the Chief Risk Officer, support the execution of risk management functions of the credit union. </li><li>Assist in performing and managing various risk assessment processes to identify current and emerging risks. </li><li>Help assess the effectiveness of the credit union's risk management and internal controls to enhance the organization's governance processes. </li><li>Help ensure internal controls comply with organizational objectives, policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. </li><li>Make recommendations for enhancements where appropriate. </li><li>Administer and maintain the credit union's Business Continuity Plan. </li><li>Work with vendors and business units to coordinate and execute periodic tests, and keep program documentation current. </li><li>Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to all types of enterprise risk. </li><li>Assist in identifying, monitoring, and analyzing risks within the company's business units, working with them to ensure changes to products, services and processes comply with applicable legal requirements. </li><li>Assist with monitoring, tracking, implementing and reporting changes to state and federal laws, regulations, rules and guidance to business units. </li><li>Serve as Enterprise Risk Committee chair and maintain its charter. </li><li>Participate in Compliance Committee and Leadership Team meetings. </li><li>Serve as staff liaison to the Supervisory Committee meetings. </li><li>May prepare reports of findings and recommendations for improvement to Senior Management. </li><li>May analyze and compile exam, internal and external audit findings. </li><li>Knowledge about governmental and financial regulations and laws required including, Enterprise Risk Management, National Credit Union Administration's (NCUA) and State of California's rules and regulations. </li><li>Provide thought leadership on emerging risk, risk identification and mitigation, and general education to credit union staff. </li><li>Communicate and elevate regulatory information to appropriate parties assisting with research, as requested and warranted. </li><li>Support and uphold company culture by aligning work with the credit union's mission and values, contributing to a positive, high-performing environment and serving as a role model for professionalism, collaboration, and the pursuit of excellence. </li><li>Lead and develop team fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and professional growth in accordance with the credit union's performance management philosophy. </li><li>Set clear goals and objectives for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations. </li><li>Support and participate in enterprise-wide initiatives, including product development and enhancement, cost optimization, and process improvement efforts designed to increase efficiency, streamline operations, and ensure organizational relevance. </li><li>Assist in the creation, implementation and measurement of the annual Risk Management plan and budget. </li><li>Assist with contract negotiations and oversight of vendor relationships. </li><li>Take ownership of responsibilities, sets clear objectives, delivers results, and follows through on commitments. Frequent use of telephone headset may be required.</p> <p>Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of hands and fingers for typing, operating office equipment, and handling documents.</p> <p>Posture and Endurance: Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods; adjustable sit/stand desk options may be available to support comfort.</p> <p>Mobility: Ability to move within the office environment to attend meetings or assist colleagues, as needed.</p> <p>Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 lbs.</p> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Hours Required: A work schedule of Monday through Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some alternate work schedules. This position is eligible for the credit union's telecommute policy.</p> <p>Travel Requirements: Less than 10% local travel required. Limited travel during the work schedule, primarily for training, meetings, or special projects.</p> <p>Work Environment: This position is based in a climate-controlled office environment with ergonomic workstations in a two-story building with an elevator. Subject to standard background noise found in an office environment.
