<p>Associate Principal Marshall Simonds Middle School - 2025/2026</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate evidence of leadership and have worked with students, staff, and parents to create a positive and successful school environment. </li><li>Has knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and policies governing curriculum and instruction standards and accountability, including supervision and evaluation process of staff and student discipline. </li><li>Has experience in leading and supervising teams and staff members effectively. </li><li>Has strong analytical skills, particularly in analyzing and reviewing student data for root causes. </li><li>Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills with working with others while taking independent initiative to solve problems and address issues. </li><li>MA DESE Teaching Certification at the secondary-level required. </li><li>MA DESE Assistant Principal/Principal Certification required. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Has worked in a school system as a department head, administrator, or lead coach with an understanding of the structures and inner workings of the school system, particularly at the middle school level. </li><li>Has had successful experiences in initiating, implementing, and sustaining impactful change, particularly at the middle school level. </li></ul> <p>Overview of the Position:</p> <p>This Interim Associate Principal is responsible for, among other things, helping to enforce the student code of conduct, communicating with stakeholders, supporting teachers/staff with instructional and/or classroom management interventions, maintaining the overall safety of the building, attending all required contractual meetings and professional development obligations, providing teachers with feedback on their instructional practices, and a variety of other responsibilities pertaining to the coordination of work focused at Marshall Simonds Middle School. The candidate of choice will also assist the principal in building a positive school culture, increase educator capacity, as well as develop and facilitate programming focused on the social and emotional well-being of all members of the MSMS community. The person of choice will be a member of the Principal's Executive Team who works closely with the principal and other associate principal helping to lead and promote the core values of MSMS and is a visible, reflective, open-minded leader who prioritizes the overall educational experience for all students.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work with the principal and the administrative team to assist teachers in designing effective and rigorous standards-based units of instruction consisting of well-structured lessons with measurable outcomes. </li><li>Work with the principal and the administrative team to build educator capacity in instructional practices that reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work, engage all students, and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness. </li><li>Oversee or lead staff in using a variety of formal and informal methods of assessments to measure student learning, growth, and understanding and make necessary adjustments to their practice when students are not learning. </li><li>Schedule classes, students, and activities that reflect best practice. </li><li>Work with the administrative team and instructional coach(es) to ensure that instruction is differentiated, culturally proficient, and instructional time is used effectively. </li><li>Supervise and evaluate teachers and other staff as applicable. </li><li>Support school leadership and staff in the effective collection and analysis of data to inform school and district goals and improve organizational performance, educator effectiveness, and student learning. </li><li>Support the principal in monitoring the effectiveness of school programs and procedures. </li><li>Develop positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students, and families and outside agencies that are involved in the work of the school and its students. </li><li>Support the development and implementation of effective plans, procedures, routines, and operational systems to address the full range of safety, health, and emotional social needs of students. </li><li>Collaborate with the principal in the development of the budget. </li><li>Assess future needs of programming for students and departments for the future planning of the budget with the principal. </li><li>Ensure fiscal responsibility of the budget. </li><li>Participate in and/or lead meetings related to students' emerging or special needs or other difficulties. </li><li>Collaborate with families to support student learning at school and at home. </li><li>Assist in managing student behavior, in collaboration with support personnel as may be necessary. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION:</p> <p>Commensurate with experience in accordance with the Burlington School Administrators' Association contract.</p> <p>START DATE:</p> <p>July 1, 2025</p> <p>The Burlington Public Schools prohibit discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that it operates.
