<p>The Logistics Supervisor provides daily leadership and oversight of driver operations, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time performance. This role is responsible for supervising and coaching drivers, managing fleet and equipment utilization, and executing delivery plans in alignment with site and company objectives. The Logistics Supervisor plays a key role in monitoring KPIs, driving continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional customer service.</p> <p>Working closely with site and division support teams, this position ensures efficient scheduling and dispatching of drivers, manages freight operations to optimize cost and service, and communicates with customers regarding delivery timelines, special handling requests, and service expectations. The role is also accountable for fleet safety, preventive maintenance, and regulatory compliance, while continually improving operational performance across all assigned areas.</p> <p>Core Functions:</p> <p>Safety and Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Enforces all safety procedures and ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Drives continuous improvement in safety performance by promoting a safety-first culture and documenting near-miss and accident reports. </li><li>Maintains strong knowledge of DOT and company safety regulations, ensuring team compliance and ongoing training in these areas. </li><li>Assists in maintaining accurate and up-to-date driver qualification records. </li></ul> <p>Driver Engagement and Development</p> <ul> <li>Fosters a positive and engaged culture among drivers through regular communication and interaction. </li><li>Leads On-the-Job Training (OJT) and ongoing coaching to support driver development and performance. </li><li>Conducts interviews for driver candidates and leads onboarding and training efforts, including the creation and execution of individual training plans. </li><li>Monitors driver performance and establishes individual goals to support overall team performance. </li><li>Plans and manages driver utilization and workload to ensure operational efficiency and balance. </li><li>Manages the driver vacation schedule and reviews/approves weekly payroll. </li></ul> <p>Operational Performance and Continuous Improvement</p> <ul> <li>Actively leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance safety, Return Material Authorization (RMA), on-time performance, and other key performance indicators (KPIs). </li><li>Promotes and applies visual management tools to track and communicate daily performance in safety, RMA, scheduling, and KPIs. </li><li>Participates in daily planning meetings and drives follow-up actions to ensure on-time delivery and operational success. </li><li>Trains and reinforces operational excellence principles, including Continuous Improvement methodologies, 5S, waste elimination, and RMA reduction. </li></ul> <p>Problem Solving and Decision-Making</p> <ul> <li>Applies structured problem-solving techniques, including root cause analysis and implementation of validated corrective actions. </li><li>Clearly communicates corrective actions and expectations to team members to ensure accountability and follow-through. </li><li>Ensures that RMA corrective actions are implemented effectively and that feedback is provided to internal and external customers. </li></ul> <p>Financial and Cost Management</p> <ul> <li>Understands and communicates how routing efficiencies and operational decisions impact site financial performance. </li><li>Actively manages cost control by monitoring KPIs and understanding the cost impact of CTTI (Cost to Transport Indicators), routing, and driver utilization. </li></ul> <p>Equipment and Maintenance</p> <ul> <li>Inspects equipment regularly and is responsible for scheduling repairs with maintenance teams or external vendors. </li><li>Ensures timely completion of preventive maintenance (PM) for all assigned equipment. </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintains flexibility to respond to after-hours calls as needed. </li><li>Supports site-wide initiatives and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure success in all operational areas. </li></ul> <p>Performs other duties and activities related to the department as necessary to support overall operations and responsibilities, even if not specifically listed above.</p> <p>Key Measures of Success:</p> <ul> <li>Effective written and verbal skills. </li><li>Has a basic understanding of trucking operations including dispatch and hours of service. </li><li>Ability to work while being exposed to outside weather conditions. </li><li>Ability to learn the internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. </li><li>Consistently exhibits and displays the company's values of "Own It. Act in Love." </li><li>Own It - Commitment to customer, company, and each other. </li><li>Can Do - Team Player, Open to Change, & Pursuing continuous improvement. </li><li>Act in Love - Treating others with humility, respectfulness, kindness, honesty, patience, and self-control. </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <p>Minimum Required:</p> <ul> <li>Two-year degree in logistics, supply chain, management, or general business field and a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Microsoft Office Proficiency, especially in Excel. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with Epicor, Samsara (or other fleet tracking software), and TMS software. </li></ul>
