<p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The assistant women's basketball coach is responsible for assisting the head women's basketball coach in all aspects of running an NCAA Division I women's basketball program including the evaluating and recruiting academically qualified prospective students-athletes, developing and implementing training sessions, practices and game plans, educating and coaching student-athletes, and supporting student-athletes in their personal, academic and athletic development at Merrimack College. This full-time position reports directly to the head women's basketball coach and must act in accordance with NCAA Division I, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Merrimack College rules, regulations and policies.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the head women's basketball coach in the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of running an effective Division I program, providing leadership, coaching and mentoring for members of the women's basketball team. </li><li>Participate in the evaluation and recruitment of high-quality student-athletes, including recruiting travel and the planning of on-campus visits. </li><li>Participate in the overall development of student-athletes: personally, academically and athletically. </li><li>Assist in on-court coaching and teaching; help plan and run training sessions and practices. </li><li>Scout opposing teams and assist in the breakdown of game film for teaching purposes. </li><li>Coordinate team travel including meals, shoot-around times and other related logistics. </li><li>Coordinate the scheduling of non-conference opponents. </li><li>Plan and assist with player, team and coaches' clinics </li><li>Plan and implement alumnae events and coordinate communication/outreach strategies </li><li>Attend individual student-athlete team meetings with the head coach. </li><li>Help monitor academic progress and ensure the academic success of team members. </li><li>Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship and integrity. </li><li>Foster and help maintain a culture that demonstrates a commitment to NCAA rules compliance, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), and institutional policies. </li><li>Participate in departmental activities including staff meetings, compliance education, guest speaker presentations and other events/meetings. </li><li>Represent Merrimack Athletics with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. </li><li>Fulfill other specific areas of responsibility to be assigned by the head coach. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university </li><li>Previous women's basketball collegiate coaching experience </li><li>Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules compliance </li><li>Demonstrated skills and knowledge of recruiting as well as talent evaluation </li><li>Knowledge of imovie, photoshop, photoscape, excel, social media, graphics, admissions software, and video sharing software </li><li>Experience supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Strong administrative and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines </li><li>Collegiate basketball playing experience is preferred </li></ul> <p>Application Materials Should Include:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Cover letter stating motivation and interest in the position, citing experience relevant to the qualifications and including experience with, and commitment to, our Catholic Augustinian mission and our values. </li></ul> <p>This position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check.</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.</p> <p>Statement on Our Mission</p> <p>Merrimack College is a Catholic Augustinian institution of higher education committed to building unity within our community.
