<p>Job Title Graduate Assistant for Student Senate Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>To apply, you will need your resume, cover letter, a list of professional references</p> <p>Posting Number 20161586STD Job Description</p> <p>This position is expected to start in Fall 2025.</p> <p>The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Student Senate will be a member of the Center for Student Engagement & Leadership (CSEL) team and directly supervised by the Executive Director. This GA will collaborate with the Executive Director to provide support to student leaders and the Student Senate and its subsidiaries. This position will be responsible for upholding the divisional mission and values, and actively participate in CSEL goal setting, strategic planning and assessment cycle.</p> <p>Specific responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Advise Student Senate to assure compliance with Student Senate's Rules and Procedures, university policy, and any applicable laws, strategic planning and operations, etc. </li><li>Advise the Student Senate Vice President in planning and execution of the Student Trustee Selection process </li><li>Provide support to the Judicial Panel for the annual Student Senate Election process </li><li>Serve as the primary administrative link between Student Senate (including its subdivisions) and the university and the community at large </li><li>Develop advising skills, conflict management skills, presentation skills, tangible administrative experiences, and an overall understanding of student government and student organizations at Ohio University </li><li>Assist the Student Senate Treasurer with the Student Senate budget </li><li>Maintain office hours weekly </li><li>Attend weekly meetings that include supervisor, CSEL office, and Student Senate's General Body Meetings </li><li>Conduct bi-weekly 1:1's with Student Senate's Leadership Team, Students Defending Students' Student Director, and Judicial Panel's Chief Justice </li><li>Oversee and lead the Student Senate Internship Program </li><li>Fulfill other assigned duties </li></ul> <p>Graduate Assistants are expected to work a total of 300 hours over the course of the semester. This time period will begin two weeks prior to the start of the fall semester and conclude at the end of the spring semester. This averages out to approximately 20 hours per week.
