<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This is a pull time Per Diem Outpatient Pharmacy Technician position and will require some weekend work.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Promptly greets patients and families in person and by telephone with a friendly and helpful attitude. </li><li>Answers medication-related inquiries, requests authorization for refills, and provides guidance on prescription pick-up. </li><li>Responds efficiently to inquiries by health care providers with pharmacy question and refer inquiries to the pharmacist as needed. </li><li>Manages the administrative responsibilities for faxing, filing, and/or documenting in medical record for non-electronic prescriptions, </li><li>MassPAT PMP requirements, 340B eligibility, or other pertinent procedures. </li><li>Determines and updates patient's insurance information, calls insurance companies to verify coverage, processes claims through the patient's insurance. </li><li>Collaborates with the pharmacist and prescribers to formulate a solution, such as an alternative medicine or co-pay discount program. </li><li>Compounds simple or complex non-sterile medications in accordance with established policies, procedures and professional standards. </li><li>Maintains pharmacy inventory by monitoring medication and supplies stock levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and removing outdated/expired drugs. </li><li>Places and expedites orders, receives orders, rotates medications, restocks supplies </li><li>Ensures the proper storage of all medications in accordance with policies and procedures. </li><li>Performs routine quality control, cleaning and equipment maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules. </li><li>Prepares and maintains related logs and records. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>High School Diploma</p> <p>Licensure/ Certification</p> <ul> <li>Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy. </li><li>Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or National Healthcare Association. </li><li>Completion of a Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy approved training program or a minimum of 500 hours worked as a pharmacy technician trainee. </li></ul> <p>Boston Children's Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits</p>
