<p>Overview</p> <p>Brighton Resort is looking for fun, energetic, enthusiastic people who?do not have prior resort experience teaching skiing. Brighton provides an environment that teaches and enables new instructors to share?their?passion for the sports we all love.?Lessons may include a variety of?students of all ages in a group, private, and multi-week?lessons.</p> <p>If you are passionate about sharing your love of skiing with others, we would love to work and ski with you on the "Greatest Snow on Earth"!</p> <p>Typical Schedule: 8:45 am - 4 pm. 1 - 5 days per week with potential evening classes depending on schedule.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Mandatory paid training for inexperienced full-time instructors will be Nov 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st. </li><li>Mandatory paid training for inexperienced part-time instructors will be Nov 15th, 16th, 20th </li></ul> <p>and 21st.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the safety and learning of students in lessons </li><li>Effective communication with students, parents, resort staff and guests </li><li>Expected to teach students of all ages </li><li>Engage in continuing education such as teaching tactics, sliding skills, and people skills </li><li>Other duties related to the daily operation of the? Snowsports School </li><li>Ability to work outdoors in the winter mountain environment </li><li>Able to consistently work in a physically strenuous and mentally demanding position for the full operating season </li></ul> <p>Expectations for this position</p> <ul> <li>Arrival time is 8:45 AM unless you are only teaching an afternoon or evening shift </li><li>Some weekends, holidays or powder mornings, you may need to be in the mouth of the canyon by 7:00 to be able to be at Brighton by 8:45 AM due to traffic. </li><li>In addition to paid training, instructors will need to do additional training before teaching solo. </li><li>If you are working Saturdays and/or Sundays, you will be required to work every Saturday and/or Sunday during our multi-week programs to ensure quality and consistency with these programs. </li><li>Full-time instructors have the option to work 4-5 days a week. Those choosing a "4-day a week" schedule will also need to teach a least 2-afterschool programs a week Jan through March. </li><li>"4-day a week" full-timers, will also need to work 5 days a week in March due to accommodate the spring break guests. </li><li>Part-time instructors will need to work at least 1 day a week or more consistently on a Saturday or a Sunday. Part-time instructors will also need to teach an afterschool program from 4:30 to 6:30 once a week for 8 weeks starting in January. </li><li>Instructors are paid an hourly wage and a "student incentive" per student. </li><li>We are a commission paid ski school. At times, there may be no work due to lack of business. </li><li>It is important to realize that work is not guaranteed every day due to the demand of business. </li><li>Instructors tend to work 4.5 to 6 hours a day. </li><li>When working, you will always need to be in a Brighton uniform, with black pants, a a nametag and a helmet. </li><li>Mandatory paid training for inexperienced part-time instructors will be Nov 15, 16 and 21 </li><li>Madatory paid training for inexperienced full-time insturctors will be Nov 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st </li><li>Dates are subject to change due to weather conditions </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>18+ years old </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted </li><li>Able to demonstrate beginner riding skills and ski/snowboard at an intermediate level </li><li>Willingness to work with?students of a variety of ages, skills, and group size </li><li>Intermediate + skiing or snowboarding skills.
