<p>As a Reinsurance Consultant, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to the Reinsurance Department in preparation for and implementing a new reinsurance system. This position is primarily responsible for advising, validating, and training staff for a successful transition. If you are interested in this position, but don't live near Binghamton, NY, this may be an opportunity for you!</p> <p>Description of Duties & Responsibilities of a Reinsurance Consultant:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in an insurance industry preferred. </li><li>Provide expert guidance through the transition to a new reinsurance system, ensuring a seamless migration and minimal disruption to business operations. </li><li>Evaluate any gaps in resources required for transitioning to the new platform and recommend appropriate solutions. </li><li>Develop and deliver comprehensive training for staff, equipping team members with the knowledge and skills needed to use the new platform effectively. </li><li>Provide ongoing technical assistance and support, addressing system-related challenges and helping resolve issues as they arise. </li><li>Advise management on improving transition process and support a timely, successful transition to the new platform. </li><li>Provide ongoing advisory support on regulatory compliance, market developments, and risk management best practices. </li><li>Provide support for the processing of reinsurance deliverables as needed. </li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned by management. </li></ul> <p>Required skills & experience of a Reinsurance Consultant:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years of related experience. </li><li>Minimum of 3 years of management experience. </li><li>A high level of understanding of Reinsurance Agreements is required. </li><li>Understanding of life insurance, contract terms, and products are required. </li><li>Familiarity with net amount, at risk formulas, and retrocession practices are required. </li><li>Knowledge of tax implications of reinsurance transactions is required. </li><li>Experience with Quasar/R2 or TIE is required. </li><li>Advanced proficiency in Java or coding is strongly preferred. </li><li>Working knowledge of SQL, VBA, Access and Power BI is preferred. </li><li>A Fellow, Life Management Institute or an Associate, Reinsurance Administration designations are preferred. </li><li>A CPA, FSA, CLU or other related professional designations may be helpful. </li><li>Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to pay close attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload. </li><li>Must be dependable. </li></ul> <p>Education Required: Bachelors degree in business, accounting or a related field required.</p> <p>The starting pay rate for this role is based on a variety of relevant factors, including location, education, experience, and skills.</p> <p>Visa sponsorship is not available for this position</p> <p>Relocation assistance is not available for this position</p> <p>Security Mutual is an Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>About SML:</p> <p>Security Mutual Life is a leading provider of life insurance, accumulation products and retirement-, business- and estate-planning services for individuals, families and businesses.
