<p>Nature of Work</p> <ul> <li>This Job Opportunity is in the Classified-Exempt Service* </li></ul> <p>Wildlife/Tate Lohr Fish Hatchery Under limited supervision of the Fish Culturist 2, the employee will perform at the full-performance level for technical and professional tasks at the Tate Lohr State Fish Hatchery. This position will assist in the coordination and operation of a Level 1 cold-water rearing facility with an annual production of less than 150,000 pounds. This position will supervise facility staff in the absence of the Fish Culturist 2, which includes one (1) Fish and Wildlife Technician 2 and numerous hourly staff members. The employee will be responsible for assisting in fish production, rearing, and distributing fish to public waters statewide. Fish production tasks include, but are not limited to, stocking, transporting, spawning, rearing, weighting, counting, feeding, husbandry, and grading of fish. Fish production will require knowledge of general aquaculture techniques, water quality parameters, and familiarity with salmonid diseases and treatments. The incumbent will also monitor fish health and ensure appropriate biosecurity measures are in place. The employee will be responsible for leading, instructing, and training subordinate staff to assist in fish production and distribution activities. The employee will also assist with future hatchery capital improvements, major repairs, and new construction efforts at the facility. This employee will be responsible for helping with all aspects of hatchery maintenance, including, but not limited to, equipment maintenance, mowing, weed eating, cleaning, painting, and snow removal. The employee will also be responsible for maintaining production and fish inventory records and must have basic computer and office skills. Duties will require knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and involve strenuous and potentially hazardous work for extended periods under varying climatic and adverse environmental conditions. The employee will also maintain a good working relationship with other state and federal agencies, hatchery staff, and the Wildlife Resources Section. The employee will serve in public relations and may represent the agency at the National Hunting and Fishing Days Celebration, as well as various angling constituents and interest groups. The employee must have a valid driver's license and obtain a commercial driver's license (Class B with Class N tank endorsement) and air brake certification. Performs other duties as assigned. Please be as detailed as possible and list all of your past employment.* </li></ul> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory, fish culture, and/or fish disease experience.
