<p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Injury Prevention, Care, and Rehabilitation Provide athletic training services including injury/illness prevention, emergency care, clinical evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation for student-athletes. </li></ol> <p>Conduct on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of acute or catastrophic injuries and illnesses.</p> <p>Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs based on clinical findings and physician recommendations.</p> <p>Determine an athlete's readiness to return to play and communicate this with stakeholders.</p> <p>Advise athletes and staff on strength training, conditioning, proper exercise techniques, nutrition, and safe practice habits.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Event and Practice Coverage Provide coverage at all home athletic contests, all away football games, designated playoff events, and non-game day practices as scheduled. </li></ol> <p>Serve as the primary medical point of contact during athletic events until EMS or further medical support arrives.</p> <p>Provide game day supplies, including water, ice, and medical kits.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Collaboration and Communication Act as a liaison between physicians, coaches, athletes, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding athlete care, including concussion protocols and injury status. </li></ol> <p>Inform families of injuries and provide treatment recommendations.</p> <p>Maintain ongoing communication with the Athletic Director regarding athlete status and program needs.</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate and timely injury records and treatment logs. </li></ol> <p>Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including MIAA, HIPAA, and district policies.</p> <p>Enter and manage medical documentation, including pre-participation physicals and concussion test results.</p> <p>Provide coaches and administration with up-to-date eligibility lists and injury reports.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Program Administration and Operations Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive athletic healthcare system. </li></ol> <p>Oversee administration of concussion baseline and post-injury testing and participate in annual concussion protocol reviews with the school nurse.</p> <p>Develop and maintain the athletic training room schedule and daily operations.</p> <p>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in all athletic facilities including the training room, locker rooms, and weight room.</p> <ol start="6"> <li>Equipment Management Demonstrate proper techniques in taping, bracing, and fitting athletic equipment. </li></ol> <p>Advise on the selection, fitting, and maintenance of athletic gear.</p> <p>Monitor facility conditions and equipment, and develop safety plans as needed.</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Training, Education, and Supervision Educate coaching staff on injury prevention, emergency procedures, and concussion management during seasonal meetings. </li></ol> <p>Supervise student aides or athletic training interns as applicable.</p> <p>Maintain required certifications (BOC, CPR/AED, concussion training) and adhere to professional standards, including the NATA Code of Ethics.</p> <ol start="8"> <li>Support Role Support the Athletic Director with assigned duties related to the athletic program and health and safety of student-athletes. </li></ol>
