<p>The Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor (HS) / Hospitalist. The successful candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Admit adult "unassigned" patients (without a private attending in University Hospital Brooklyn) from the Emergency Department, MICU and CCU according to the Hospitalist service schedules. </li><li>Diagnose and treat different medical conditions in the adult hospitalized patients on his/her service. </li><li>Work in a team with the nursing staff and social worker to make appropriate discharge arrangements for the patients admitted to his/her service. </li><li>Provide consultations for preoperative patients and for patients. </li><li>Function as the teaching attending for the medical resident/student team for approximately eight-months a year. </li><li>Set and communicate to the team expected performance standards. </li><li>Evaluate and individually discuss the team residents' and students' midmonth and end of each month performance. </li><li>Mentor second-year students in the history taking and physical exam. </li><li>Formally evaluate third-year medical students' bedside performance. </li><li>Teach courses to the medical residents and students. </li><li>Participate in the Hospitalist Service meetings as scheduled by the Director. </li><li>Participate in different administrative tasks; Performance Improvement, Health Information Management, Medicine Department Operations, HIV Committee, Palliative Care Working Group etc. distributed by the Director. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>New York State Medical Licensure. </li><li>Medical Doctor Degree or equivalent. </li><li>Full training in Internal Medicine. </li><li>Board Certified in Internal Medicine. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>Variable Days; Variable Hours (Full-Time)</p> <p>Salary Grade/Rank:</p> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>Commensurate with experience and qualifications</p> <p>Executive Order:</p> <p>Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity, as defined by the Executive Order, is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, that an applicant for employment provide his or her current compensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time as the applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment with compensation.
